Blink500 Pro vs. Lark 150: Live Review of Saramonic and Hollyland Wireless Mic Systems
In this livestream, we do a high-level review of the Saramonic Blink500 Pro and Hollyland Lark 500 wireless microphone systems. Both systems support two transmitters/microphones for each receiver, are priced near $300 USD, and have very small 2.4GHz wireless transmitters. In this review, I'll provide audio samples, evaluate the sound quality, show an outdoor distance test, and I'll give you my recommendations.

When I first saw the Zoom F8 audio field recorder prototype at NAB 2015, I was a little skeptical. How can they make a pro level field recorder for only $1000. Most of the pro level devices are priced at least twice that, and those with 8 mic inputs are often 3 to 4 times that. But the specs looked really, really good on the most important things: the preamps and analogue to digital converter. So I put in my preorder and took a chance. I’ve now been shooting with it for almost four weeks and I’m quite impressed with most aspects of this recorder. It looks like it will meet my needs quite nicely - corporate videos with a one or two person crew. You want your video or film to look awesome so you know you probably need to light your talent. But which type of light should you get? Fluorescent? LED? Old-school Tungsten? It really depends on the type of shooting you do and each type of light has pros and cons. In this episode we talk about the pros and cons of each of these. Today’s smartphones can shoot very impressive video with surprisingly good quality. Adding camera movement to your smartphone video can make your video look and feel much more professional. It can also add to the energy of the story. But even with the new generation of premium smartphones with optical image stabilization, most phone video will still look pretty jittery and shaky when you move the phone with your hand. That’s where a gimbal can make a huge difference. Zhiyun Tech makes a professional quality gimbal for smartphones which does a really nice job smoothing out your video footage, even when you’re walking. And it also works well with the larger phones like the iPhone 7+ or Samsung Note series. Zhiyun Tech was kind enough to send us the Smooth II for review.
