Hatemonger Tucker Carlson Claims That Hate Speech Doesn't Exist
Fox News host Tucker Carlson claimed this week that "hate speech" doesn't actually exist, and then tried to claim that he doesn't even know what it is. If he wants a clear example, all he has to do is watch his own program every night and he'll get a pretty good idea. But there's an obvious reason why Carlson is claiming it doesn't exist, and he even admits to this reason in the segment. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Monday evening on his Fox News program, Tucker Carlson was, as per usual, very confused. He was confused about why everybody's talking about this so-called hate speech. Because according to Tucker, hate speech isn't real. It's, it's just a thing some people made up. It doesn't exist at all. So take a look at hate monger. Tucker Carlson telling us, of course, that hate speech is just a figment of our imaginations. Here he is.

What is hate speech? By the way, all of a sudden everyone in the media has sort of, without explaining why, agreed that there's this thing called hate speech that's real and probably actionable. They can find a billion dollar judgment against you if you commit hate speech. But just to remind everyone watching, there's no such thing as hate speech. Hate speech is speech. People hate usually the people in power. The truth is all speech except speech that encourages people to imminent illegal action, like, go shoot that guy. Short of that, there's no hate speech. All of it's allowed under the United States Constitution, which is our final hope

Hate speech, is just speech that people hate, right? I mean, that's what he said. If you hate what somebody says in Tucker Carlson's brain, that is hate speech because, Because you hated it. Honestly, it's like that scene from the office where Michael Scott said, I'm a victim of a hate crime. And they said, That's not what a hate crime is. And he responds with, Well, I hated it. Tucker Carlson literally went on his cable news show, which is the most popular, most watched cable news show in the country and pulled to Michael Scott. Hate speech is just speech that you hate. No, Tucker hate speech is what you do pretty much on a daily basis. You go out there, you attack, you demonize, you go after marginalized people. Here in the United States, you say horribly untrue things about them, which of course, in turn can cause people to commit acts of violence against those marginalized groups.

That's what you do. Hate speech is saying that immigrants are coming into our country and making it dirtier. That's hate speech. And that also, by the way, is something you've said I think on several occasions. But furthermore, hate speech is not just made up. It is literally in the dictionary. So what does the dictionary have to say about it? Speech expressing hatred of a particular group of people. According to Maram Webster, according to the Cambridge dictionary, hate speech is defined as quote, public speech that expresses hate or encourages violence toward a person or group based on something such as race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation, which pretty much sounds like every single thing every Republican in this country is engaged in right now. Hate speech does in fact exist and hate speech is very prominent over on the the right. Not saying it doesn't exist on the left, but I am saying that most of it is coming from the right, But there's of course a reason.

Tucker Carlson is trying to pretend like he doesn't know that hate speech is a thing. And he even admitted it in that clip. He even admitted it, and a lot of people I think kind of glossed over it, but he said, Oh, they'll hit you for a lawsuit for a billion dollars. Ah, there it is, Tucker. Right? That's why you want people to think hate speech doesn't exist, so that when your network gets sued for inciting violence or when they get sued for defamation, you've already planted the seeds in your audience's little heads that none of this is actually real.
