Burial Ground… Aka The Nights of Terror… is one of the worst zombie movies ever made… it’s also one of the most entertaining. Burial Ground has become a bit of a meme within the horror community and for good reason. This is one of the most unintentionally funny horror films I’ve ever seen! I wish I had more to say about the film, but honestly, there’s nothing here. I guess that’s part of the charm.
Village of the Damned (1960) is a classic film about children.

I know what *you* did last summer. Odds are that when you hear that, you are in one of two camps. You either love the film, or you despise it. Hot off the heels of the revival of the slasher genre thanks to Scream, I know what you did last summer came along and became a cultural phenomenon. For a brief period, it was everywhere. It is one of the highest-grossing slasher films of all time. And with its fame and cultural impact came it quickly became divisive. Some love it for its witty dialogue and clever way of bringing the slasher genre out of the 80s and others despised its lack of originality and the fact that it rode on scream’s coattails. So just about 25 years later, does it hold up or is it a case of capturing lightning in a bottle?

Who doesn’t love a good summertime carnival? From the rides to the attractions to the food, carnivals are magical, especially for kids. One day, the carnival suddenly arrives, and just as quick as they come, they disappear. There’s so much mystery surrounding them and is a great premise to base a horror movie on. Tobe Hooper directs this wonderfully familiar yet oddly unique slasher that has one of the most visually interesting slasher villains ever.

Jamie gets a new babysitter and he tells her about the giant hole in the ground about a mile from the house. He tells her that at the bottom of the hole are creatures like trolls. Because of her psychology background, she questions him. He gets upset and runs to the hole. This is our first real glimpse of the pit and we see the troll-like creatures in the pit.
The babysitter slowly realizes how strange and perverse Jamie is. He does everything he can to get a glimpse of her.
The film has a very strange tone. It’s a dark and oddly disturbing coming of age story. There’s some quirky dark humor on display as well. Jamie wants to feed the trolls so he starts buying meat. He runs out of money so he tries to steal it. Eventually, Teddy determines that mean humans will be the best food. Here is where the film goes bonkers. He kills a little old lady in a wheelchair and the tone just doesn’t fit with the rest of the film.

Delirium is an Italian Giallo directed by Lamberto Bava, son of Mario Bava. Filled with genre stars, this over-sexualized, violent, weird, but competent horror mystery has some of the most interesting visuals ever put to screen. Is this overlooked gem worth your time? With imagery like a giant eyeball as a girl's face, how can you go wrong?

Very few things go together better than H.P. Lovecraft and Jeffery Combs. Jefferey Combs has spent much of his acting career portraying characters in Lovecraft adaptations. Now there are two major ways to adapt Lovecraft’s work. It can be the serious, brooding, cosmic horror, dread-inducing nihilistic approach or it can be the campy, fun, strange approach. Combs is probably known best for his portrayal of Herbert West, Reanimator. I love Reanimator and it encapsulated the campy approach to a T; it’s a blast to watch. Combs followed that up with From Beyond, another fun, strange, campy adaptation of Lovecraft.
Lurking Fear (1994) is one such film. Differing greatly from the source material by the same name. Just like Herbert West Reanimator, The Lurking Fear was serialized and published in Home Brew magazine. And this isn’t the first film adaptation of this particular work 1989’s Dark Heritage was the first to adapt this story.

I love the Evil Dead. The film is a horror masterpiece and one of the most influential low-budget horror films ever made… but I’ve been seeing rumors that the Evil Dead is far from original. I mean, it straight ripped off a little-known movie from 1970 known as Equinox. I hear what you’re saying. You want proof. Well, take a look at the films side by side.
Sure I had to use some scenes from the Evil Dead two, but it’s hard to deny that Sam Raimi wasn’t heavily influenced by Equinox… or at least that’s what I wanted you to think.
