Swamp Robot
Remnants of what was designed to be a scene in the feature film "Quest for the indie Tube." I lost some essential footage and so have made an experimental film with the surviving material.
Don't try to make any sense of it. In December, 2009, I was filming myself walking around North Carolina's cotton fields. My brother said, I could have been easily shot, as the contraption was 9 feet tall and looked like a terrorist weapon. So, we filmed what this might have looked like...too bad the cotton filed footage was lost...not that a goth robot in the swamps looks any less weird.

A fire that devastates several dolls living in an art-house commune. The fire leaves one doll alive, who is haunted by the dolls that were burned to death.
North Carolina, 2005-2006. I Came across what is common down there: old abandoned farm houses. Many are so overgrown that the entire structure has become engulfed by the woods. Sometimes farmers just mow the lawn around these old structures, in lieu of razing them to the ground.
I could not resist entering a semi-charred dwelling with broken windows, rickety floors, and a very shaky, badly burned staircase. The inside was littered with cobwebs, dusty antique furniture, and several burnt dolls. The home was last inhabited by humans in the late 60s...the dolls live there still!

Skate Park inisde abandoned factory -- created out of the chip board that once boarded up the large, 3-story factory, in Bellows Falls, VT. At the time, I was 50 years old and taking these risky ventures is something I have been doing for many years, as the adventures jazz me psychically, and keep me fit. Filmed this as part of the SUPER 8 VOYAGER trip -- shooting super 8 footage of abandoned dwellings, wooden covered bridges, old cars rotting in the field, cemeteries, etc -- all for an experimental film 'Super 8 Voyage,' to be released by summer, 2017.

Episode 2 explores the cheesy noon-time soap opera,TV Guide, bad reception, and time constraints of Television from 30 years ago or before. Sometimes you would be just in time. Or you would never synchronize your schedule to see that "one show" that everyone else has seen but you! oh, how things have changed in that regard. Now that we are here, in this time, please feel free to use the "pause" button if you need to =)
RETRO TUBE: An experimental web series, using VHS analog video and super 8 and super 16mm film. The basic idea is convey the pros and cons of the TV experience back in the day. Receptivity was often poor or impossible...but it would tease you, as it came and went. Moreover, one would have to be present when a program was scheduled, making us revolve around the time frame, which is basically the opposite experience today. AND, the selection was WAY less with a mere 13 channels, and local UHF programs that would often put you to sleep. But, we appreciated it more, as we had to fight for our programs, and often forced to manually change channels. Today, the main fight seems to be finding anything meaningful in an endless ocean of programs. At least today's flat screens are better...or are they?
We are using old stock footage and/or recording new footage, using old schools cameras, You, as the viewer, shall basically see the channel surfing as though you were watching TV 30 years ago.
Most of the footage here was shot specifically for this project, with VHS and super VHS, in North Carolina and Denver. The super 8 and super 16 footage stems from a wide variety of older projects from Reel Groovy Films.
