Raspberry Pi Zero 2w Robotics - Part 2 - Raspberry Pi Configuration
In this video, I take the Raspberry pi Zero 2W we soldered headers on last time and set up then configure Raspberry Pi OS on it. For a little added adventure, I'm using Raspberry Pi OS 64 bit.
This configuration will set up a headless OS and configure interfaces we'll need for robotics later.
This video is part instructional, and part a log of what happened, in the latter half I show where it didn't all go right.

My lab helper and son Jon assists me in another robot build - building the 4tronix Unotron - a robot with one drive wheel and a steering servo. We use an Elechouse 15a Driver board with an Arduino Nano on board.

After troubles with power, including a power shim soldered on the wrong way, motor stall out problems, and then my skittlebot image being broken by a power cable knocked out in a dist upgrade, its all back.
Orionrobots is in the reserve list for piwars 2018. We will be there, with this robot in whatever state in gets to then.
It's alive, and driving better than ever. Next to put all the sensors on.

In the lab, I am joined by Jonathan and we have a new favourite toy, the Flashforge Finder 3D printer.
After using the Reprappro Ormerod 2 for many years, this is a breath of fresh air. We unbox it, get it set up and get the first print from it.

This is the eleventh day with this electronic Sound Advent Calendar. This solderless breadboard kit builds component-by-component into an electronic synthesizer circuit. It suggests there is a new electronics experiment each day. I've added a mod to the circuit as bonus content at the end of the vid.
I open the eleventh window in the calendar, then build the circuit and test it. I find that one of my earlier mods is similar to a change in the circuit in the guide...

We added a lifting module for our Pi Wars 2024 robot Big Ole Yellow (which is now mostly red granite… what’s in a name?)
This is using an mg90 servo driven from a Pimoroni Yukon (rp2040). Micropython runs there, listening to a serial/mqtt bridge from a Raspberry pi.
All joystick messages to control it are posted on the mqtt bus.
