Difficult Days for Rome’s Apologists, the Words of James Cone, Unvarnished
Started off with a discussion of the quandary faced by Rome’s apologists today as they deal with the reality of an unorthodox Pope. Sort of makes their arguments against sola scriptura just a tad vacuous. Then we moved over to looking at the reality that men like Bishop Talbert Swan, who throw around accusations of racism and white supremacy with abandon, are the direct result of the writings and teachings of the father of black theology, James Cone. Spent quite a while reading Cone’s words directly so that everyone can fully understand the depth of the man’s racism, and the extent of the man’s heresy from any meaningfully biblical perspective. Wrapping up our home stand before I head out next week with a pretty high energy program running through topics brought up on social media. We looked at how Francis is going to update his 2015 encyclical on the environment soon and asked, "If he can't see the scam of climate change, how can he have much insight at all?" We looked at a horrific Harrari tweet and a few others, then we also explained what the nice LDS home schooling mom was talking about when she talked about bringing sacred souls to earth. Finished up looking at another man-centered (and failed) attempt to get around John 6 by Soteriology 101. 75 minutes today. Right now it looks like we will be shooting to do a program from the road after I am on with Chris Arnzen on Iron Sharpens Iron next Wednesday.

Spent a little less than half an hour responding to Dr. Robert Morey's debate challenge (well, I've only been told about it, I haven't actually seen it), giving some history and once again refocusing upon the real issues. Then we looked at Dr. Frank Turek's response to a question about free will and predestination, and then moved on to Dr. Michael Brown's comments on John 6:37. A little over 90 minutes for the program today.

Started off with a few minutes discussing the reality that a lot of us are facing: how do you have any sense of "normal" anymore when the future looks to troubled, so difficult? Why even bother talking about theology during a revolution? Well, because Christians have done that for a very long time, actually. So, a few words of encouragement from my heart to yours. Then we responded to this video that was posted recently from a Muslim "revert." I had not watched it before (just a few moments to gather its quality and intention) so this was a "live" review and response. Then at the end I read from Codex Vaticanus and provided a challenge to my Muslim friends. Just under two hours today! Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/

Though I touched briefly on a Soteriology 101 tweet at the end of the show, the vast majority was directed to responding to Joshua T. Charles and his presentation of Newman's "development hypothesis" as the answer to my Nicea question. A lot is going on in Rome these days, and we need to keep up if we wish to be good witnesses!

Pastor John Samson (www.kingschurchaz.com & effectualgrace.com) returns to guest host today's Dividing Line broadcast and continues his teaching on expository preaching. How the Bible is handled in a service often reveals far more about a church's true beliefs regarding Scripture, rather than a statement of faith found on a website. Today's teaching is a summons to make God's word central in the life and ministry of the church.
In the video John refers to "homework." You can find that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9LCwI5iErE

If you are active in reaching out to our Roman Catholic friends and family members, this is an important program for you. We spent most of our time going deeply into a clip from CA Live on “tradition” in the Bible. Then we played a brief clip from the British Parliament on critical race theory that was real encouraging, and finished off with looking at France’s vain attempt to create a “secular” form of Islam. Just over 90 minutes.

Is the practice of praying to and venerating dead saints and images biblical?
James White vs Patrick Madrid
This debate, which took place in 2002 on Long Island, NY, focuses on the subject of prayer to and veneration of saints and images that represent them. Its participants are Patrick Madrid, a Roman Catholic apologist and editor of Envoy Magazine, and Dr. James White. Madrid defends the proclamation that veneration of saints and images is consistent with the Bible and Christian tradition, asserting that, as saints are fellow members of the body of Christ, they therefore are able to receive prayers from believers and intercede on the behalf of their brothers and sisters. Further, he asserts that icons and images help call for us to imitate the saints and act as memorials of honor to them. Dr. White, who denies that proclamation, demonstrates the fallacy of this position by revealing the false dichotomy created by Roman Catholicism on the terms latria and dulia, demonstrates from Scripture that prayer is an act of worship designated for God alone. This debate helps clarify the issue between Roman Catholics and Protestants on what constitutes veneration and is veneration appropriate at any time to anything other than God. It also helps us to understand the role our deceased brethren in the faith is not intercessory and that prayer belongs to God alone. Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/
James White vs. John Sanders Is it God's will to save people apart from knowledge of Jesus Christ? Inclusivism is all the rage in many 'evangelical' circles. James White debates John Sanders on this important topic at "The Grind," a unique setting for such an encounter. (2 Hours 20 Minutes) Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/
