friday. crept up like a dodgy uncle right? we made it thou last night, interactive goodness on blab with the first try the world box online video reviewing went well tonight it's another episode of refresh friday and then the late night dance party bring your friends and enemies gearing up for next weeks interview i have ten days left before i go back to temporary work and under three weeks to raise a shit ton of money for the trip.
looking to capture system audio on your m1 mac, running big sur in 2021, looked at the option, seen people talking about soundflower, ishowu capture, loopback and lots of other names you’ve never heard of before? — that’s ok, i’ve been there.
recently i managed to buy a new mac (for mobile editing) with an m1 processor running the latest mac os called big sur. it’s still as buggy as all the other mac software but with the new chipset it’s certainly got some extra poke and feels a bit more stable when doing heavy tasks.
the reason for this video is two-fold.. .
1. get system wide audio capture working on your big sur, m1 powered mac
2. get a decent piece of apple silicon ready screen capture software for $24
(i’m not reviewing this or using affiliate links, it’s just good software, support ya favourite developers!)
anyway, let’s get into this.
if you buy this software it automatically installs the latest audio capture virtual driver which is called SWB (shiny white box) audio capture, basically the ishowu capture utility but for the latest and greatest operating system properly — the old way of capturing from core audio kept changing through the last batch of mac operating systems and so this way works best.
The software is great and i think it’s worth the addition in-app purchase of another $15 for the advanced add-ons that allow IOS capture, multi channel audio tweaking and other bits and pieces.
I realise this is not as good as “free” but i’ve found when it comes to virtual audio drivers, free and open source often means not always STABLE and updated when your operating system updates! — best to go with a tool, from the guys who ended up building their own own virtual driver, when they update the software, they will update their driver too.
Once you have the software and audio driver installed you’ll be able to use that in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and OBS. Check out my other videos for tutorials on capturing audio using this virtual audio driver inside of OBS.
I’ve also got a course on OBS for the newbie if you are interested.

It started a few weeks back when I started to see people doing zoom meetings more than usual. Then the OG videobloggers started to re-appear again and form groups on facebook, then zoom updated their software finally to deal with the explosive in usage.
Now, we are at the nostalgia stages.
Today marks 15 years since the very first video was posted on YouTube. It’s crazy to think that one of the OG services like YouTube is that old but there ya go, it’s one of the grand daddies and boy is it playing on it’s heritage right now — maybe because it’s Facebook gaming taking on twitch and they wanna flex a little, maybe because everyone is in self reflection mode, who knows but it’s nuts to consider that — I think I’ve been a user since 2006.

DAY TWENTYNINE
nearly the end, i never uploaded this on the day because i did'nt, i got near the end and dropped the ball by a few days, big deal. gonna put a closing video up after this and then i'm taking a few weeks off to really concentrate on courses, i'm glad i did this every day. once i get a new camera i think the process of shooting and editing will get a little easier and more interesting. being in the same place all the time does not really help! :)
http://www.videoblog.link/sssveda
all love, subscribing, retweeting, commenting welcoming everywhere, let me know your out there and where your viewing from, come on. don't be shy.
props to all my #sssveda people who are keeping up. i feel your pain of getting organized, remembering to shoot, edit and all that stuff if your going about it in an organized way. we can do this. we will do this. great that you have topics but i'm just going to freestyle this badboy.
