Donald Trump's poll numbers showed an immediate jump following the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago last week, and Florida governor Ron DeSantis' numbers actually went in the opposite direction. All told, the moves in the polls put Trump up an additional 10 points over DeSantis, but things can change very quickly. After all, these polls were conducted BEFORE all the damning information came out, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

So the immediate fallout from the FBI search and seizure down there at Malago has now been revealed. And it appears that Donald Trump now has a 10 point advantage in the latest round of polling data as a result of what the FBI did last Monday. There's a big caveat to that by the way. And I'll get to that in just a moment, but let's talk about the poll numbers. Prior to that, so-called raid on Margo. Donald Trump was sitting at 53% of Republican voters and Republican leaning independence who said they would vote for him in the 2024 primary. That number is now at 57%. So he got a four point jump there where the remainder of the 10 point bump that he got came in is that Ron DeSantis is poll numbers nationwide in this new Politico morning consult poll fell by six points. Ron DeSantis went from 23% down to 17%. So of course that means Donald Trump's poll numbers technically improved by a grand total of 10%. Cuz Ron DeSantis is in second place. And Trump now has the nationwide lead over DeSantis by 40 points.
This was also conducted. This poll was before all of the other information came out right before the other shoe dropped at the time of this poll. All these Republicans knew was that Donald Trump's home had been rated by the FBI so unfairly. So yes, if you do a poll in the immediate aftermath of that, when people are shocked and appalled at what happened, of course his numbers are going to get better. I challenge you to go ahead and take that poll again now and make sure you remind people like, Hey, um, there was nuclear documents in there that were likely classified. He's being investigated for possibly breaking the espionage act. Would you vote for him now? In fact, I want you to go back and ask these exact same people to see how their exact opinion has changed or even if it has changed, maybe it hasn't, maybe these people are totally cool with Donald Trump putting the entire planet in nuclear peril.
But I have to imagine that at least some of them would have pause and be like, well, now that we have a little bit more information, maybe now I'm not so okay with it. Maybe now I wouldn't support Donald Trump in a 2024 primary. I believe this poll is an absolute blip on the radar. Again, taken before all of the information was available. So you're basically just getting the knee jerk reaction of a bunch of, you know, conservatives out there. This is not representative of what's actually happening today. And if it is representative of what's happening today, then God help us. This country is in some serious trouble. But I don't think it is. I think with all the news that has basically come out from
Thursday to today. Yeah. I think the public understands how big of a deal this is. I think they understand the necessity to go in there at Mar Lago and take those documents away before they had the chance to go and remove them again. So yeah, maybe, maybe it's best to not go out there and get people's snap reactions to events happening in real time. Maybe wait a couple days, maybe allow all of the information to actually trickle out before you force people to say how they feel about something that none of them understood.
