In this video, I discuss the index fund bubble that has developed over the past 40 years. Index fund investing started out as a smart way to lower fees and increase performance, but has quickly morphed into a bubble, as index investors now out-number active investors.
Without the price discovery made possible by active investors, there is no free lunch for index investors. In addition, thanks to index investors, corporate governance has suffered and marginal investment dollars are funneled to the Big Tech 5, further reinforcing their monopoly status.
The S&P 500 in particular is no longer a diversified index, but rather a highly skewed bet on Big Tech, in the face of populist movements that may seek to break them up.
The SPY and QQQ have become crowded trades, dependent on central bank money printing, and ever increasing fund flows (which may or may not be there in the future). As we would expect from a crowded trade, future performance will suffer, and there could be a mad and destructive rush for the exits at some point.
In a world of index funds, the smart active investor who is willing to actually use his/her brain has a huge advantage.

In this video, I discuss how the stock market and other risk assets sell off whenever the Federal Reserve tries to shrink its balance sheet. Over the past week, the Fed has continued to increase its holdings of Treasuries, MBS, and corporate bonds, but has eased up on repos and central bank liquidity swaps. The net result has been a slightly shrinking balance sheet.
As a result, the US dollar has strengthened and stocks have moved lower. I expect the Fed to shortly begin growing its balance sheet again, which will be bullish for stocks, Bitcoin, and other risk assets.

In this video, I discuss Bitcoin's biggest advantage: it started small, was able to grow organically under the radar, and now has massive hashing power securing the network, as well as a decentralized structure.
Any competitor to Bitcoin in its function as a "store of value" will either need to start small and under the radar, in which case it will probably never be able to catch up to Bitcoin, and the institutional adoption that is now taking place.
Or it will need to start large and centralized and well-funded, and thus will be subject to all of the problems that centralization brings (risk of fraud, single points of failure like the tech team or CEO, etc).
Bitcoin has the largest market cap, the most hashing power to secure the network, the most mind share, all while still remaining decentralized. It is a combination that will prove almost impossible to beat.
I believe that Bitcoin will continue to grow and take market share (probably from gold and real estate), eventually emerging as mankind's central "store of value." This implies a market cap for Bitcoin in the tens of trillions.

In this video, I discuss Warren Buffett's worst investment ever, which was a Sinclair gas station that he bought with a friend in Omaha for $2,000 in 1951. Buffett ended up losing the entire investment, which at the time constituted 20% of his net worth.
This loss (on a percentage basis) is much greater than his failed investments in the Dexter Shoe Company (1993), or ConocoPhillips (2008).
From his failed gas station investment, Buffett learned the importance of customer loyalty and having a competitive advantage, as well as the benefits of taking a more passive approach to investing.

In this video, I discuss how it is impossible to build a truly decentralized new financial system on top of a centralized base layer like Ethereum. Even if it succeeds (which is far from certain), you may end up with another centralized system that can be captured or co-opted by the current fiat financial system.
Ethereum is not decentralized. It is a scammy coin that had a huge premine/presale. It is run by a centralized leader, who has the bully pulpit to control Ethereum's forward path and who has done rollbacks (2016) and reversed transactions. Further, Ethereum does one hard fork after another (not backwards compatible).
The move to Proof of Stake will only serve to make Ethereum even more centralized.
The coolest parts of DeFi can be ported over to Bitcoin and built on its base layer, which prioritizes security and true decentralization.
Your new cool altcoin/token is just another future feature that will be added to Bitcoin.

In this video, I discuss Bitcoin SV (BSV) and its many recent setbacks, including the ongoing empty-block attack, as well as Craig Wright's losing the legal case in Norway to Hodlonaut.
BSV is a fork of BCH, which itself is a fork of BTC.
BSV has been steadily losing value against both BTC and USD, and its market cap is now a very small fraction of BTC's market cap. In this way, the crypto markets have voted with their feet to pick a winner-- and that is BTC.
For some reason, Craig Wright has been unable to sign a message and thus prove cryptographically that he controls some early BTC addresses.
Hodlonaut's victory over Craig Wright is a victory for free speech and Bitcoiners everywhere, in my opinion.
Craig Wright and BSV continue to seek legal solutions, rather than relying on cryptography, which would be the more normal route taken by a true cypherpunk, in my opinion.
