History has been made, GameStop stock has risen for +2,000% in the last 3 months and no it's not because of the new Call of Duty 58. It's because of payback. Let me explain.
GameStop is a brick and mortar store that sells physical games and consoles which in todays day and age that is not such a good business model. Well big Wallstreet hedge funds saw this as an opportunity to short the stock and make an amazing profit off of it. Well they were actually shorting more stock then there actually was. So, this investing community on reddit saw this as an opportunity to raise the stock price, forcing the Wallstreet investors to exit their sell positions and also lose A LOT of money. So much so that even a company by the name of Melvin Capital had to get bailed out because it over leveraged on this trade.
There's so much more to unpack from this story but the biggest thing to take away from this is that we are starting to see a shift in power and finance and it's going away from the bigger companies and more into the little guys, this narrative lines up perfectly with how cryptocurrency is also starting to make some big moves as well, but that's for a whole different conversation.

Investing can be hard sometimes, especially if you're new to the game and so that's where index funds come into play. They basically clump a whole bunch of stocks together that have some similarity and it makes investing so much easier for you as the investor. But, I wanted to have some fun with it and see if I could make my own version of an index fund and so I did.
In this video I break down how I went about creating my own 'fund' and also walk you though some of the stocks that I picked and exactly why I decided to choose these stocks.
