Canadian police begin arresting protesters blocking US Canada bridge
Police in Canada have begun arresting protesters blocking the Ambassador Bridge. which connects Canada to Detroit. 'Enforcement actions continue at the demonstration area with arrests being made. Vehicles being towed. Please continue avoiding the area.' the Windsor Police tweeted early Sunday morning. 'A 27 yr old male was arrested at Huron Church Rd at Millen St. for a criminal offence in relation to the demonstration. Officers will intervene when necessary to ensure the safety of the public & maintain peace & order.' the Windsor Police tweeted late Saturday. The arrests come after a Canadian judge ordered the protesters to vacate the area on Friday. Windsor Police said Sunday morning they are taking a 'zero tolerance' policy toward 'illegal activity.' Only two pickup trucks and less than a dozen protesters blocked the road to the bridge before police moved in. Mississippi escaped inmate in custody after manhunt. some prison employees facing disciplinary action
A Mississippi convicted killer who escaped prison for the second time in nearly four years over the weekend has been re captured. with a dozen prison employees now facing disciplinary action. according to authorities. Michael Floyd Wilson. also known as. 'Pretty Boy Floyd.' 51. was taken into custody in Harrison County just before 1 p.m. Tuesday by deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said a woman tipped them off to Wilson's whereabouts after he carjacked her vehicle. Deputies chased after the vehicle which eventually ran out of gas and Wilson was arrested without incident. Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Burl Cain said during a news briefing on Tuesday. MISSISSIPPI CONVICTED KILLER ESCAPES PRISON SECOND TIME. MANHUNT UNDERWAY. AUTHORITIES SAY Wilson escaped Saturday from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl. Mississippi. about 11 miles southeast of Jackson. Cain said. Officials originally believed Wilson escaped on Sunday. Wilson was injured after he scaled a 12 foot fence and two feet of razor wire before escaping the prison grounds. corrections spokesman Leo Honeycutt said Monday. according to the Mississippi Clarion Ledger. Wilson was wearing gloves that were found stuck in the wire. officials said. During the search for Wilson. he used fake aliases and was apparently able to get treated at a hospital for his injuries — twice. the paper reported. He was treated and released on both occasions. After the escape. Cain said a dozen MDOC employees are on administrative leave pending disciplinary action. including management. He noted the biggest mistake was having Wilson taken out of maximum security. 'That alarms us.' Cain said. 'The person or persons involved with that change made a terrible mistake.' Wilson was sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted for beating two men to death in Biloxi and Gulfport in 2014. He was also serving sentences for burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon. according to the Clarion Ledger. Wilson previously escaped the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakesville in July 2018 and was recaptured more than two days later in Ocean Springs. about 70 miles away. An investigation is ongoing to determine what happened. or if the escape was an inside job. Cain added. 'Well take him to reside in Walnut Grove so he'll have a hard time getting away from there.' he added. citing the higher security facility. 'It won't happen again.'

Pepper spray sales spike as NYC women say they feel ‘unsafe’ after Chinatown murder
New York women are feeling “unsafe” in the wake of Christina Yuna Lee’s brutal stabbing death Sunday — prompting a rush to buy pepper spray across the Big Apple. business owners said. “Manhattan used to be an oasis. now I’m looking over my shoulder to make sure I’m not being followed.” Elise Hsu. a 34 year old real estate agent who lives in Chinatown. told The Post Tuesday. “This is every woman’s nightmare. I spend my time thinking will I be harassed? Raped? Murdered in my own home?” she continued. “What happens if I’m next?” The Post spoke with nearly a dozen women Tuesday who said they no longer feel safe in the Big Apple and five businesses that sell pepper spray that have either seen a recent uptick in sales or more women purchasing the self defense tool. “It has become a popular item. yes.” said a staffer at F&J Police Equipment in The Bronx. “We’ve had some women. also some men who were buying it for their wives or girlfriends or daughters.” the worker said. adding some have expressed fear for their safety when making the purchase. Early Sunday morning. Lee took a cab home to her Chinatown apartment around 4 a.m. after spending the evening at a friend’s party and as she made her way inside the building. 25 year old Assamad Nash allegedly crept in behind her. Nash. a homeless man known for harassing commuters at the nearby Grand Street subway station. followed behind the 35 year old creative producer as she climbed six flights of stairs to her apartment. Once she opened her door. Nash forced his way inside and allegedly butchered her with a knife. stabbing her over 40 times and leaving her to die in her bathtub. prosecutors said. Pepper spray is legal to carry in New York by anyone over the age of 18 who has not been convicted of a felony or an assault but it can only be used for the purpose of self defense. according to state law. Those seeking to purchase the tool must provide identification to prove their age and sign a statement attesting they’ve never been convicted of a felony or assault. Phoebe Tan. 50. told The Post she keeps pepper spray with her while at work at the Chinatown lighting store Bulb World. “Every day the homeless walk around here. I was so scared to find out about this woman getting murdered. I have pepper spray in the store to protect myself.” said Tan. Lisa L.. 50. said she avoids walking around at night by herself and said a friend recently bought her pepper spray and she plans to teach herself how to use it. “With the subway murder and this. Infant killed in multi vehicle crash involving tow truck near Houston. deputies say
HARRIS COUNTY. Texas – An infant is dead after a multi vehicle crash involving a tow truck in northwest Harris County. according to deputies. KSAT’s sister station. KPRC reports the crash happened around 10 a.m. Sunday in the 6600 block of Cunningham Road near West Little York Road. Deputies said the tow truck. which was hauling a vehicle at the time. was heading eastbound at a high rate of speed when it struck a stopped Nissan. The truck then dragged the Nissan into a ditch and flipped it. KPRC reports. Both a mother and her 4 to 7 month old son were inside of the Nissan at the time of the wreck. Authorities said the vehicle that was attached to the tow truck also rolled upside down into a ditch. The infant was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. KPRC reports. The infant’s mother was also hospitalized but her condition is unknown. Deputies arrested the driver of the tow truck at the scene on manslaughter charges for the infant’s death. 'Really no words' Neighbors express shock. sadness after five die in fire
KUNKLETOWN. Pa. — Fire tore through a home in Monroe County late Thursday night. taking the lives of five people–a woman and four young children. A snowman still sits in the backyard of this home along Brook Road in Polk Township. near Kunkletown. In the front yard. caution tape remains along with a gaping hole from a blown out window. State police say the fire that did all the damage also took the lives of a 53 year old woman and four children between the ages of 2 and 7. all from the same family. The coroner identified the woman as Rosemarie LaBarre. grandmother to the four siblings who died in the fire. LaBarre was watching the children while her daughter and son in law were out of the home. 'Unbelievable.' said neighbor Jo Rosebery. 'I was devastated. I mean. I see them playing in the driveway. well. two of them anyway. all the time. and it was a total shock. Like. this can't happen here.' The fire started just before midnight. Several fire crews and EMS responded. Troopers say the woman and children who died in the fire lived in the home. Two other people who also lived there were not home at the time. Neighbors who knew the victims of this fatal house fire tell Newswatch 16 this is absolutely heartbreaking. (CNN)Indian actor and activist Deep Sidhu. who backed the country's year long farmer's movement. died in a car crash Tuesday. according to police officials. He was 37. Sidhu's car crashed into the rear end of a truck in the northern state of Haryana. senior official of Sonipat Police. Virender Singh. told CNN. He died on the spot. Singh said. Born in Punjab state. Sidhu started his career as a model before landing a role in the film Ramta Jogi in 2015. according to CNN affiliate CNN News 18. He was a vocal supporter of India's farmer's movement. which saw tens of thousands of farmers camp for months on the outskirts of the capital Delhi. Earlier this week Russian officials claimed that it would be reducing its force size along Ukraine’s border after amassing roughly 150.000 troops and deploying 30.000 soldiers into neighboring Belarus. The accounting firm that has for years prepared annual financial statements for Donald Trump and his businesses is cutting ties with his company and says a decade's worth of the reports 'should no longer be relied upon.' The firm. Mazars USA. wrote to the Trump Organization's chief legal officer Alan Garten on February 9 to inform him of its decision. The letter was included as an exhibit in a filing Monday by the New York attorney general's office. which is seeking depositions from Trump and two of his children. Baltimore Police: Six people shot within an hour Wednesday. two boys dead
Six people were shot in Baltimore on Wednesday. two fatally. according to Baltimore Police. Two of the crime scenes were reported at the same time. At approximately 6:20 p.m.. Southwest District patrol officers responded to the 3500 block of Gelston Drive in the Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park neighborhood near Edgewood for a report of gunfire. Once there. police said in a news release. they located a 15 year old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. They applied a tourniquet until medics arrived to transport the victim to an area hospital. Also at approximately 6:20 p.m.. Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Mullikin Court in the Dunbar Broadway neighborhood for a report of a shooting.
