While we are planning to publish a full-length video soon that covers this amazing park, we could not resist shooting a pair of 10 minute long relaxing videos just for you. So without further ado, again, please sit back, relax and enjoy the show!
Located in Niigata, Sado island is the sixth largest island of Japan with more than 55,000 inhabitants. Like many other islands, Sado was used in the 8th century as an ideal place of banishment or exile for people in the area. It is only in around 1589 that Sado’s fortune changed when people started digging gold out of the island.
However, it was under Emperor Kanmu's ordinance, in 808 that Seisuiji Temple was founded by a Buddhist monk who came from Kyoto while traveling Japan on a missionary tour.
Meaning “Salvation” in Japanese, Seisuiji Temple’s main hall is highly influenced by Kyoto’s famous Kiyomizu-dera and features the same Kanji : 清水寺, while being officially named Seisuiji. Like Kiyomizudera, Seisuiji’s main worship is the 1,000-armed Kannon Bosatsu (Goddess of Mercy).

Tokyo Best Sakura Spot : Shakujii Kawa - 石神井川 : Tokyo counts many gorgeous cherry blossom/sakura spots that are all worth your time and attention if you do not mind the bustling crowds. But, away from the masses and mostly kept secret by many photographers and sakura specialists, there is a 2km long sakura wonderland that will literally blow your mind with its beauty and its total lack of tourists. Behold Shakujii Kawa!
Thanks to its ultra dense collection of sakura, it's river and many bridges, Sakujii Kawa is is by far, even taking into account the gorgeous blossoms along Naka-Meguro River, the most beautiful place to enjoy the sakura season in Japan! And to make things even more enjoyable, Sakujii Kawa is strangely ignored by both foreign and local tourists alike!

Mount Fuji or Fujisan in Japanese does not need any introduction and I will not spend time here to talk about this famous and gorgeous sacred mountain. No however today’s video mark what 2020 will be all about on TokyoStreetView and the possible changes that may come.
We have been publishing videos about Japan and will continue to do so, for the past 5 years now, however, starting next year we would like to not only up our games with more 6K or 8K Videos shot with a Cinema Camera and Cine Lenses when possible or with equivalent Photo lenses. But we will also try to work on some short documentaries about some of Japan's most interesting aspects of life.
So here it is, today’s video will hopefully mark the beginning of a new era as well as being 2019 last video, indeed I will take a break until mid-January of 2020 in order to spend some quality time with my beloved family. Thank you for watching all along this past year and we are looking forward to seeing you again next year with some new content!

Okinawa is not a single island but a group of islands, with at its center the island of Okinawa which is the largest island of them all. An hour away or so by plan from the main island you will find, next to Ishigaki island a smaller island named Taketomi, a tiny 5.42 km2 island with only 323 inhabitants! Taketomi is popular among Japanese tourists not only for its traditional Okinawan houses with sandy streets and stone walls, but also for its amazing beaches and for its “hoshisuna” or star-sand wich are in fact remains of Foraminifera a kind of amoeba!

Step aside Harajuku! For, like the over-tanned ‘Gyaru’ fad, you are not cool anymore! That’s right...we said it, Harajuku is not cool anymore! Maybe because of its over-popularity among tourists from across Japan and around the world, Japan’s fashion-oriented youth that once shopped around Harajuku have a new safe haven with Shimokitazawa.
Not only does it contain hundreds of small shops scattered within a few pedestrian-friendly roads, Shimokitazawa offers a great selection of bars and incredible restaurants too! What also make this place special is its capacity to mix youth-oriented shops with more traditional stores & markets that older people love to visit.
So remember, for your next trip to Tokyo, make sure to skip Harajuku and go straight to Shimokitazawa for a unique fashion oriented experience!

An hour and half away by plane from Tokyo, Uchiko City, located in Ehime prefecture is a hidden gem that can only be found in Japan. While we have a lot coming up for you about Uchiko in the coming few weeks, we wanted to start this video tour of this wonderful city with the Tenjin Washi Factory where the famous Ozu washi is still made by hand.
Ozu Washi is said to have been manufactured since the Heian era (794-1185), and is mainly used for calligraphy paper, shoji sliding door screens, etc. but also for special application like for the Ikazaki Kite Battle kites. Famous for its quality the Ozu Washi has been made famous for its durability and evenness.
Also if you are interested seeing first hand how Ozu washi is made, know that the Tenjin Washi Factory is open to the public for a free workshop tour upon reservation!

We’ve covered Shibuya many times in the past. We’ve made a short walking tour video before of the area, but we have to admit that we are fascinated by the place and we could not resist shooting yet another walking video of Shibuya, this time in winter! We hope you will enjoy this new video as we are exploring places that we did not cover last time.
