Boston - Something About You - Epiphone Les Paul Studio
I'm using my BIAS FX2 preset this time (available on ToneCloud) called "Boston '76-'78". Using a doubler plugin, it sounds very close to the Boston guitar tone. There are a LOT of Equalizers in the plugin (4, I believe) because of how quirky they are in BIAS FX2. They seem to work together to color the tone very well. Just a strange bit of programming, I guess.
'Something About You' is from Boston's 1976 self-titled debut album and is written by Tom Scholz.

Whoever says these Strats aren't nice are delusional. I've been using this Glarry Strat for well over 8 months now. It's still as solid as the day I bought and upgraded it!
'De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da' is from The Police's 1980 album 'Zenyatta Mondatta' and is written by Sting, Der Stinglehofer, Sting-a-ling-a-ding-ding, De Stingmeister, Sting-a-tollah!

This morning, Edward Van Halen lost his battle with Cancer and passed away at the age of 65. Eddie was a legend and his music will live on forever!
The reason I'm even a guitarist was because of 3 people: Ace Frehley, Tom Scholz, and Eddie Van Halen. I remember my brother picking up the first Van Halen album. We were mesmerized in 1978! I picked up Van Halen II when it came out. I was blown away by the pure skill of Eddie. The lightning fast flamenco guitar in Spanish Fly and the killer harmonics of Women In Love - Eddie's playing was a big part of my life and I'll NEVER forget him!
'Dance The Night Away' is from Van Halen's 1979 album 'Van Halen II' and is written by Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Michael Anthony, and David Lee Roth.

GUITAR: Eddie Van Halen 'Frankenstrat' from an unknown source that I bought from an antique shop (of all places!) for $250. The ONLY thing I know about this excellent guitar is that whoever made it used a Squier Affinity (according to the price tag when I bought it). I have no idea what this pickup is. But, it sure sounds great - in my opinion!

'Good Times, Bad Times' is the first song off of Led Zeppelin's 1969 debut album and is written by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones. THIS was the song that introduced me to Led Zeppelin. I had only heard of them when I was a kid and picked up their 1st album at a yard sale or flea market. I think I spent $1 on it - at the most. It blew my socks off!
Trying out BIAS FX2 on this one. This was done using a COMPLETE backing track. No recordings of Zeppelin were used.

I realized I never did this song with a Les Paul. I covered it with my various Strats - and one of my Ibanez GIO guitars - but not one of my LPs. So, now is as good a time as any! New guitar coming in this week (Friday). I'll upload a video with it once I get the strings changed and whatever set-up/adjustments need to be done to it. ?STAY TUNED!?
'Learning To Fly' is from Pink Floyd's 1987 album 'A Momentary Lapse Of Reason' and is written by David Gilmour, Anthony Moore, Bob Ezrin, and Jon Carin. One of my all-time favorite Pink Floyd songs!

This is why music means so much to me. I've LIVED the lyrics of this song. I've been betrayed, cheated on, and left in pieces many times in life. Music was always there for me - through good times and bad. I could always pick up the guitar, turn on the radio, play a cassette, spin a CD or LP, and I could process the emotions - both good and bad.
'Found Out About You' is from the Gin Blossoms' 1992 album 'New Miserable Existence' and is written by Doug Hopkins - the band's lead guitarist and principle songwriter.

The ONLY thing I would do with this guitar is put on GraphTech locking tuners. But, that's down the road. The guitar costs $350 new and it was bought for me as a Christmas present!
