Untitled Goose Game is adding another horrible goose to its repertoire. Developer House House announced today that it will release a local two-player co-op mode as a free update on September 23rd.
The rules of Untitled Goose Game are simple: you, a cute and terrible goose, honk at innocent villagers, steal their things, and generally make life miserable. It’s a puzzle game built around inciting havoc, and with a friend, that job may be easier than ever. Co-op will be available on all platforms; additionally, the game is coming to Steam and Itch.
House House has also teamed up with iam8bit and Panic Inc to release physical copies of the formerly digital-only game, in addition to a vinyl version of its soundtrack. Both will be released on September 29th, with preorders open now.
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Devs Return with Ogre Tale
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds was one of the best beat-em-ups to hit the market in the last decade, offering not only beautiful graphics, but fast-paced action. Now MAGES is back with Ogre Tale - which aims to deal even more damage to enemies with swords instead of fists. The game uses a super-distorted anime art style and a very detailed pixel art style to stand out from everything else out there. The worlds themselves look diverse and detailed - almost like a sprite-based Vanillaware game with how much attention to detail both the environments and the cast have.
The monstrous Momotaro is out to destroy everyone and damn, he's tired of the internet making fun of him - so much so that he's going to KILL THE HELL OUT OF YOU. The game's sense of humor is sure to be a bit on the bizarre side, and the action seems to be a mix of brawls and sword fighting, looking like an absolute blast. While the group's previous game was successful on both consoles and PC, and not yet, Ogre Battle will be on PC when it launches on August 20 via Steam. We will keep a close eye on Ogre Tale as the release approaches.

There have been a lot of successful and/or notable attempts at blending rhythm games with other genres, such as Crypt of the NecroDancer. And appropriately enough, Nippon Ichi’s upcoming platformer Mad Rat Dead is not only another such hybrid, but one that also involves the dead being brought back to life. In this case, though, it’s our main character that’s the newly-risen. A lab rat is getting a chance to redo their last day of life thanks to the Rat God, with the catch that they have to keep their now-sentient heart beating, as seen in the new gameplay trailer below from NIS America.
Be it jumping, dashing, attacking, or even just dancing, our titular mad rat needs to time their movements in order to match the beat of the music, keeping their heart active. But should players happen to make a fatal move, they can also rewind the beats and try again. Mix in some challenging and fun platforming like that with an eye-catching blend of cartoon and punk aesthetics, and you have a potential platforming sleeper hit. Mad Rat Dead comes out on October 30 for the Switch and PS4, arriving just in time for Halloween.
