We released our #kickstarter for a new #tarot deck this week, while headlines in newspapers speak of building up a stock of #nuclear weapons around #Russia. So we ask the important question of the moment: Will there be a #nuclear war before our kickstarter ends? ### Best Hope - 11 Of Cups, Page We hope for a leader who is clever and cogent of the situations. An articulate and astute plan that is nuanced and responsive and sensitive and calming. We should hope for de-escalation. Lets see if we have that. ### History - 8 Of Wands, Swiftness Instead we just have accelerating escalation, a dreadful rush towards inevitability, the _manifestation_of the portents, the immantising of the echelon. This is MAD. But the history the world has chosen, is to have a deterrent strategy. ### External - 5 Of Cups, Disappoint So we are full of anguish and bereavement and betrayal, the external world is in calamity, and we are all feeling despondent and helpless. It's clear our leaders are failing us, in all the countries, all kinds of ways. ### Internal - 10 Of Cups, Satiety Inside we have had enough. We feel like it's an emergency and the emotions are running high. There's hazards and instability everywhere. The axis is misaligned. They are using _threats_and surveillance not just against Russia, but against us all. We should have bliss and contentment and assurance, a guarantee of harmony and joy. But instead the newspapers are filling us with emergency, and threats. Have you had enough? ### Waning - 7 Of Wands, Valour If you decide upon the strategy of using a deterrent, you have to advertise the fact. The story must be in the newspapers as surely as a cobra evolves a display hood. So you get all this bravado. Valour. But foolhardy valiant confrontation has consequences. Advertising a deterrent is inherently esclatory. There is a risk that fearlessness leads to battle. But perhaps this is becoming less important. ### Waxing - 13 Of Trumps, Death Instead, growing more important, is death. Oh dear. It's well know that the card really means, change. An ending, even a failure, but mortality is not the only outcome with loss. Breaking of the old can cause the new. It's a cliffhanger. Which way will it go? End the tensions? Or end the life? ### You, Now - 13 Of Wands, Queen It's upside down. That's not supposed to happen. I take active steps to avoid that. Some believe if a card turns upside down then, it reverses the meaning, but I dislike a messy deck of 50/50 coin-flips. The queen of wands is amazing, she is confident and creative and erotic and powerful and free. My heroine. She's fresh and inquisitive and independent. Do you feel that way? Or the opposite? Do we take the card being upside down seriously? Perhaps things could flip easily either way. The cliffhanger continues. ### Obstacles - 10 Of Pentacles, Wealth What stops us? Oh, it's the economy. The capital again. The establishment and their inherited wealth, they look after their friends and flourish. While we are at risk, their policies and pensions are the only important thing. ### Outcome - 8 Of Trumps, Strength Reports of upgraded nukes are a show of strength. Lumbering powerful military intelligences flexing, in each other's faces to get each other to back down. But these risky cliff-hangers have a downside, If we want the calming de-escalatory plan We need to show gentleness and empathy and trust, but also ensure it's our public strength which is expressed, not the bravado. ### Summary That upside down card, and the ambiguity "cliffhanger" nature of the death card, gives us a reading showing two worlds not quite resolved. A superposition. Our best hope is calm de-escalation, but instead our policy is swiftness, MAD and deterrence. All the world's leaders are clearing failing us, and we have had enough. The trouble is they have to show bravado. If you have a deterrent, you must advertise it, and that is itself escalatory. So it becomes a gamble between the two meanings of the card Death. So the world feels topsy tervy. You're fine, but also the opposite. It could go either way. The concentration of wealth and prevents any real change And so we better hope their show of strength works. Because there's already been enough death and we really want this kickstarter to be a success before the war comes and kills us all. Last time the #tarot cards suggested that #war in #ukraine could be averted by diplomatic intervention. That turned out not to be true, but what about this week? ### Past - 14 Wands, King Business was being done in Russia, Gas extracted and sold, power and electricity being made, industry and enterprise self confidence ### Present - 7 Trumps, Chariot And Putin thought he'd go on an adventure, a movement, a military operation, the Russian army taking their chariots, or tanks, into the Ukraine. ### Future - 8 Trumps, Strength His expectation was that his armies would be strong, and powerful. Efficent and decisive in their use of force. ### Intervention - 9 Pentacles, Gain The intervention itself, the invasion itself, causes spikes in the price of Oil and Gas, which is useful to Russia for it sells a lot of those thing. So the invasion boosts their bank-balance. ### Influences - 12 Wands, Knight But here's Ukraine's leader, brave and dynamic, youthful and vibrant leading on gut instinct. ### Obstacles - 16 Trumps, Tower The falling of the tower of Russia's economy is the main obstacle facing Putin, the creditor and the debt and the catastrophic upheaval as sanctions kick in and the dictatorship could fall! ### Outcome - 8 Pentacles, Prudence In the end though, prudence must prevail. The patient and rational determination, attention to determining the reasons and logic and finding some reliable and rational way to end the conflict.a ### Summary Putin had managed his business in Russia well, and he expected his planned military adventure to bring strength to Russia, and so he intervened expecting gains, but the Ukrainians fought back, and Putin's tower is in danger of collapse. This week Suella #Braverman the #UK home secretary has seen all the people forced to live out on the streets in #tents, so she has decided to fix the problem by banning their tents. @pre@boing.world does a five minute #tarot reading on that and finds the country was once actually very prosperous and generous, until a bunch of drunken rapacious crooks took charge and turned everything to death. Take heart, that at least may soon change! ### Past - 3 Of Cups, Abundance The country used to be rich. We had _opportunity_ and so _growth_ The county's _inventiveness_ and _organization_ skills led to _success_ and so _abundance_ and _gratitude_, a _giving_ mindset of _hope_! This leads to _education_ and _development_ and _generosity_, to improving _community_, to better _society_, more _friendship_ and _outreach_. The country had _laughter_ and _love_ and _camaraderie_ A real _social_ contract. ### Hidden Influence - 12 Of Pentacles, Knight And the people of the country! They were _fortuitous_ and knew it, so they were also _generous_ . A _determined_ and _enterprising_ people, who knew that those who had _advantage_ should be _magnanimous_, _equanimous_ _benevolent_ and _patient_ . The people are _learned_ _contemplative_ and _educated_ , _knightly_ even. _dutiful_ and _meticulous_ , _caring_. The people would not take away a homeless man's tent! So what happened? ### External Influence - 14 Of Wands, King Ah of course. The _leaders_. _rich_ _drunken_ _rapacious_ _devourers_, a _ravenous_ _opportunistic_ _sovereign_ government. Look at the _swagger_ of these self _assured_ neo-_liberal_ _charismatic_ _villains_. _unfortunately_ we _empowered_ _cynical_ _pessimist_ _adversaries_. They think to keep us _motivated_, so they can rob us more, they need us in _hardship_ . To keep us _industrious_ they try to make us scared and fight each other. ### Present - 13 Of Trumps, Death And this is what's left when they have drained the country of it's abundance and life: Death. To hold on to their gains they need to keep us loaded with _problems_ and thinking about _mortality_ and _death_ and _endings_, on the edge of _breaking_ point always one step away from the _tomb_. They need to _ostracise_ and monster some minority of us, to keep us turning on each other like rats in a cage. The tents are just _symbolic_ for Braverman, she will not have to sleep in one, or evict someone from one, they are just a way to keep us angry fighting and _injured_ and on the edge of _death_. But this card means more. Endings are also beginnings. We can _awaken_, become _enlightened_, bring _change_ and _transformation_ in society. This can be the death of their ghoulish manipulations, their last final desperate attempt to make us fight each other. ### Outcome - 2 Of Pentacles, Change Change can come! This desperate bunch of drunken crooks can be kicked out, and we can have a totally different set of more mild mannered crooks. I mean sure, the next lot still always go on about _money_ and _balancing_ _prioritisations_ and _investment_ _partnerships_ with _start-up_ _entrepreneurs_. But they might at least not be so viciously terribly theatrically performativity cruel. Maybe the _opposition_ will actually do some _new_ _buildings_ instead of just blaming defenceless immigrants or homeless people while they drunkenly loot the palace? Will that make any _difference_ ? It might at least reduce the _radicalisation_ and _polarization_ that the current lot deliberately provoke. But you know, it's all just _cycles_ ### Summary The country had plenty of wealth, and a good natured and generous people, until these drunken crooks came to rob the place, distracting us by making us fight each other while they turn the country to death. But change is coming. At least in tone. Labour won't solve homelessness but they probably at least won't blame the homeless. That's what the cards tell me. Wanna find out what they tell you? This week #Harry and #Megan from the #royal family were interviewed by the American Queen, Oprah Winfrey! So I did a #tarot reading to investgate. We find that at the beginning of their journey Harry and Megan hoped for compassion and generosity, they wanted graciousness and magnanimity as they use their fortune to do non-profit work. But the Royal Family were too influential. Conservatism, economics, routine, and the stability of the system was just too oppressive for them. The page of Pentacles is Harry himself, a minor royal, diligent and meticulous and passionate. But his influence is decreasing, as he is changed by the other internal influence in his new family: The new money: his wife and child. Dollars rather than old pounds. Conception and birth and cooperating with that produced a new increasing influence upon the couple: Change. The team of the couple themselves, their resourcefulness, their strength, their inner ability to grow and influence each other, to change as a couple. This has produced a history enough to make them howl-at-the-moon kind of crazy. On the show they discussed the slander from the press, the anxiety from the royal family, the deception and shame and insecurity the felt before their escape. And for now, right now, they are victorious. They are scoring against the old family, successfully improving their lives, increasing in confidence. What obstacles await them though? They will need to show strategy, finality, and move quickly with candor and frankness of messaging because while they have victory for today, more interference from the old-guard royals is assured. They will need that swiftness if they are to avoid the obligations, separation, and limitations that the old guard will still use to interfere in their lives
