We introduce the Basel Problem which was stated in 1650 by Pietro Mengoli and finally SOLVED 84 years lated by Leonhard Euler, of course!
What is the sum of the recipricol of the squares of the natural numbers?! It's Pi-squared over 6! Duhhhh.
Today we would say: Zeta of Two is Pi-Squared over Six!

Lisandra Hernandez is a current PhD student at Stonybrook University working in geometric analysis under the supervision of Michael Anderson.
Her current research is in understanding limits of Riemann surfaces with conical singularities from a geometric analysis point of view. She has previously worked on studying Poisson structures on twistor spaces of Hyperkhaler and HKT Manifolds for her Masters Degree at Florida International University.
Her website is here: https://www.math.stonybrook.edu/~lisandra/
We would like to thank Lisandra for being on our show "Meet a Mathematician" and for sharing her stories and perspective with us!

In this video, we present another proof of this fact originally due to Eugenio Calabi which involved calculating a particular integral in two different ways!

Jay Cummings is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Sacramento State University. He received his Ph.D. in 2016 from the University of California, San Diego under the supervision of Ron Graham. Jay’s research is in many different flavors of combinatorics: enumerative, extremal, probabilistic, spectral and algebraic. He has an Erdos Number of 2 and is the Author of “Real Analysis: a Long-Form Mathematics Textbook”. His website is www.longformmath.com where you can find his Blog and information about his textbook and future books to come.
Jay's personal website can be found here:

Today we talk about recent news of the website 4chan providing a proof to a 25 year old conjecture! Our main topic is: non-euclidean geometry, independence of propositions, the continuum hypothesis and Godel's incompleteness theorem!
