Westmill Wind Farm wind cars race each other on an open visits day
Little wind powered cars used to demonstrate wind power to kids at Westmill Wind Farm - the two M300 printed wind wheels dominate, over the yellow fan (Mini radiator fan) and the little black one - car heater interior blower fan. Fans don't make the best turbines as they are profiled wrong, so I'm developing a 3D printed alternative. The drive on the car with the red fan slipped a bit (clicking noise) but it still came second. The vehicles are made of 'Fischertecknik' which is available on Ebay and Amazon as well as other places. The blue and red fans were printed on a Zortrax M300 3D printer in Zultrat filament.
COPPA Compliance This is from 'Fischertechnik - a German construction system commonly use in industry, to demonstrate engineering principals in a business environment - as is demonstrated on my YouTube channel many times - it was marketed as a constructional toy for a while - but it failed in the market against LEGO - so some of my 'made for kids' videos such as this one also feature it, as does the most serious videos I have ever made, the ones detailing the collapse of the boiler house building at the huge Didcot Power Station complex, where several workers were killed - I being a former employee of the site. In this case - the video was made and directed at kids. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96zj5eZscwI
Visiting Westmill Wind Farm with a chum who wanted to see it, I loved the spinning shadows, and the noisy industrial land monsters at the end.

My son driving :) he flicked the cab lights on so we could see him and his mentor - replayed in slow motion at the end. At the making of the video, he only has about 40 hours to go before he passes out as a solo train driver.

Over centre gas strut leg uplock and down lock on a model railway layout table, constructed from recycled wood and stiff lightweight insulation board. It is surprisingly strong and won't have any trouble supporting the solar powered 'G' scale railway that will soon be built on top of it. The table and layout will be painted and added to by students once I have all the engineering and electrics working, and deliver it to the charity I built it for.

The Z drive jack screw is warped, leaving ripples in the finished builds. Watch this space for a fix update... Prints wouldn't stick to the build plate - but this was fixed with a coating of PVA glue mixed with water, 3D printing is an art as well as a science, its early days yet for me and this remarkable machine.

A video clip of Bronte Beach, with a good friend doing some of the walk on parts. Just across from its world famous neighbor Bondi, Bronte Beach is my favorite place ever ;), especially when I get there in the small hours and watch the sun come up. Sadly I didn't have many clips to work with as this was early days with digital camera recording and was just really just testing the water with it, so it features the same clips reworked over and over. When I first set foot on Bronte, The Groove Armada hit 'At The River' came to mind - so I had to have a go at making a little home video featuring a remixed version if it just to have a play with the excellent Windows Movie Maker video editor version 6 that used to come bundled with Wondows (7 I think?). Especiially as Bart started humming it as I panned the camera on me mentioning it, great memories of a great friend in a great place on my happy holidays. If you want a copy, look up 'By the River - Groove Armada' at your favorite music supplier. A tribute to this most happy place. Enjoy :-))

NOTE - Stabilized verson - Model helicopter crash cought live via onboard video - our electric powered 'flying camera' suffered a total failure in flight and fell out of the sky. I was still trying out different camera mounting ideas and in this case, had mounted it facing backwards. The camera cannot be attached solidly to the helicopter as the vibration causes total image blur, so we're having to try out diferent ways of mounting it alas in this case, the camera 'resonated' with the chopper, causing the image distortion that made everything, including the wind turbines, look as if they were made of wobbly rubber - so you'll have to bear with. This is the raw unedited video taken from the camera, so its all there, including the moment I found the crashed chopper. I was rather shook up by the crash, hence the even more terrible camera work at the end - not least because I didn't think the camera would have actually survived so didn't really think it would still be videoing. The helicopter was under perfect control up until the point of sudden total failure. The little 'Fly DV' camera did survive - a remerkable achievement. At 30 grammes, the camera weighs less then the optional training kit that is sometimes sold with this helicopter. I've since found that the battery connector had a bad pin and one had melted due to poor workmanship, the other pin in the connector was fine.
