Many people think human caused global warming will result in sea level rise that will wash Florida away. Dr. John Harper, FGSA,FGAC, PGeol., former director of the Geological Survey of Canada, explains that the land 'platform' of Florida is different than most of the USA (even though they are physically connected to each other). Florida's platform is made of limestone, a chalk-like substance, that readily disintegrates when exposed to fresh water. This explains the reason why so many sink holes have appeared in Florida. Sea levels dropped dramatically and exposed this land to air and fresh water. In the Bahamas, where the same kind of land platform exists there are deep sea caves where human remains and artifacts are being found. Human-caused climate change is not the cause of Florida's gradual natural breakdown due to the inherent weakness of the platform and erosion by the elements.

On Oct. 13, 2018, Tzeporah Berman gave a presentation to the Alberta Teachers' Association Conference 'in the heart of oil country.' https://www.stand.earth/tzeporah The following is a seven part rebuttal by Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science Society. Michelle discusses how the ClimateWorks Foundation partners have funded a global push for cap and trade and putting $12 trillion in renewables on the grid by funding local environmental nongovernmental organizations and charities (ENGOs) to agitate for favorable policy change for their "Design to Win" plan, making it appear as if the demand is coming from local grassroots. This is the larger umbrella plan for the Tar Sands Campaign, exposed by Vivian Krause. These materials are drawn from available public data online.

Climate catastrophe hype seems to center around remote or invisible things. Dr. Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, now an independent scientist who rejects climate change hysteria, discusses the case of a large herd of walrus that seemed to leap to their death in a Sir David Attenborough documentary. In the context of the related subject matter on climate change, the media and many commentators seemed to apply human qualities to this death leap, as if these animals had been driven to despair over climate change…. Dr. Moore explains they were terrified of an approaching herd of polar bears looking for lunch, something never seen on camera, and never discussed.

Due to the pandemic, we could not hold our Friends of Science Society's AGM as we normally do. On the upside, this means that Michelle Stirling's presentation of the past year's highlights (in this case, past 18 months) which is normally delivered in person at the event, had to be presented on video. So that gives everyone a chance to see an overview of our activities and accomplishments. We appreciate the support of our social media subscribers, our members, and our supporters. Whether you are a contributing donor, or whether you share our materials, or whether you just enjoy seeing what we have to say - thanks for helping us make it happen! If you'd like to become a member/subscriber, or if you'd like to give us a Christmas gift donation, here is the link. https://friendsofscience.org/index.php?id=160 Thank you. Note - we are a non-profit society, not a charity, and we therefore do not issue tax receipts.

Ross McKitrick, professor of economics at the University of Guelph and co-author of “Taken by Storm” explains that in a policy discussion, you want to have two columns to compare the “Social Benefits” versus the “Social Costs.” However in most discussions about the Social Costs of Carbon, there’s no “Social Benefit” column at all! Worse yet, reports like “Omitted Damages” are highly speculative, piling on diverse catastrophic possibilities that are “Non-existent Damages” because they are products of imagination, not evidence.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, was recently reported to be changing some of Facebook's policies 'in the face of what he deems as excessive censorship,' according to a CNN article of Jan 31, 2020. However, Friends of Science Society is calling out the Facebook CEO and asking for his help because Facebook is censoring their ad for a Freedom of Speech event. The event is entitled "Freedom of Speech! No Climate Emergency!" and features investigative journalist and free speech advocate, Donna Laframboise, and NASA award-winning scientist, Dr. Roy Spencer, principal researcher with the University of Alabama Huntsville. It appears that the rejection of the ad arises because Facebook has previously accepted the Climate Feedback claim that 500 scientists, who state there is NO climate emergency, is a form of false news. Facebook has since been demoting the Friends of Science site for having published this news that mainstream media blocked out. Friends of Science say that even one of Climate Feedback's own scientists admitted on Norwegian television that there is no present climate emergency. Likewise, the CLINTEL group now has more than 800 scientists. Friends of Science have also written a detailed critique of Climate Feedback's assessments, showing where they go wrong. Friends of Science further note that Climate Feedback, a subset of Poynter Institute's International Fact Checking Network (IFCN) should encourage open, civil debate on climate and energy policies - not dogmatically shut it down. In a fund-raising letter, Poynter's president, Neil Brown, claims their organization is dedicated to freedom of speech, freedom of the press and democracy, but that's not what Climate Feedback or IFCN are supporting. Please share our video letter to Mark Zuckerberg.

A journalist once asked mathematician and author Benoit Rittaud, President of L'Association de Climato-Realistes (Association of Climate Realists), if there were any historical cases of a large scientific movement based on an erroneous premise like Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming. Climat Environnement & Énergie: https://www.climato-realistes.fr/ At the Porto Basic Climate Science Conference of 2018, Rittaud explains that scientists generally do not study history, or they do so, the simply study the forward stepping stones of discovery - not the failings in between. In this talk, recorded at the Porto Basic Climate Conference in September of 2018, Rittaud discusses the Lysenko Affair as a similar mix of scientific error driven by politics, ideology, and fear of reprisal for any who dared to question, into its catastrophic implementation.

The federal government of Canada wants to introduce Bill C-10 to regulate the internet. Though the government claims it would not touch freedom of expression, the recent committee moves have made all self-generated content potentially liable to CRTC review or licensing. This may sounds benign, but Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science, discusses the present 'soft-censorship' and how the media landscape is funded by the feds...so how can there be impartial coverage? Oddest of all in this time of censorship, is that the ENGOS which have openly decried threats of censorship in the past, are largely silent.
