After defeating Ariana, there is a machine that is causing all the problems for the Lake of Rage. The only way to deactivate the machine is by defeating all the Electrode controlling it. Each Electrode is on Level 23. You can capture one to make it useful for your collection. After all of the Electrode are gone, Lance will give you an HM05 (Whirlpool) as a special thanks. Whirlpool prevents the target from escaping for 2-5 turns and can be used outside of battle to cross whirlpools on the water.

After getting all 8 badges, try climbing the waterfall at Mt. Mortar so you can go deeper into the cave. The ice platforms will fall the moment you land on them. Ascend the area and use the ice platforms to get around certain edges. Some spots have missile fishes, so be sure to stay away from their sights. Use a platform to descend and you’ll see big flying ape heads. Defeat one grasshopper for a key and the platform will make way for you to go into the water. Wipe out some fish along with some fence squids and enter the next surface deep within the palace. The next boss you’ll face off against is Zarzamoth. Zarzamoth will fling its tusks and move around a little. Defeat it and collect the prizes to finish the stage.

There are several items lying around in the Power Plant. You may mistakenly interact with and be attacked by an Electrode by some of the items on the ground. If you do, you’ll be engaged with a battle with one of these. Electrode is on Level 43. The best idea is to paralyze it then draw out some Ultra Balls. Catch it quickly before it uses Selfdestruct.

Under the Celadon City Game Corner is the Team Rocket HQ. Explore the headquarters and you’ll ride on the panels on the floor. Find the lift key and use the elevator to go to the B4F of the hideout. In the B4F, you’ll meet Team Rocket’s boss, Giovanni. The opposing 3 Pokémon are easy to attack with Fighting type moves. After winning, Giovanni will retreat and leave behind a key item, the Silph Scope. With the Silph Scope, you can identify the ghosts in the Pokémon Tower.
