What are you "going as" tonight? I will be going as a Christian, and a sinner, who is trying. It is not a costume. And I will celebrate St. JOHN OF KRONSTADT.

The story of Jesus and the Rich Young Man traditionally stands as a warning against being attached to worldly riches and possessions. In this homily Fr. Nicholas explores the deeper meaning of Jesus’s challenge, and includes lessons from the life of St. Athanasius the Great, whose feast is celebrated today.

0:10 – 17:58 Meaning of the word Dormition and its significance (and how the Orthodox belief about Dormition, and Mary in General differs markedly from the Latins)
0:25 - 1:05 What was *different* in the nature of Mary and us?
1:05 – 1:38 did Mary Die?
1:38 – 13:08 Jesus Christ took all His humanity from the Theotokos. And a description of the main points of Mary’s life and ministry – here conception, dedication in the temple, life in the temple, betrothal, annunciation, , her visitation of Elizabeth, Joseph’s reaction to her pregnancy, the nativity of Christ, her life after the resurrection.
13:08 – 17:58 The days preceding her death, story of her Dormition.
15:43 – 16:16 All icons of the Theotokos with the infant Christ *always* show him as a small adult or older child. Why?

“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” This is the core message of the Gospels and the preaching of the Apostles. Repentance is our response to the knowledge of God. What does repentance mean?

This homily is a synthesis of the two Gospel selections we read in liturgy and some experiences of Fr Seraphim, when he venerated Holy Iviron icon of Hawaii which was present the past two days for the feast of our sister parish: “Holy Mother of God Orthodox Church”, in Georgetown Texas. We bring together many things including the greatest achievement (miracles) of the Mother of God when people venerate her holy icons, the terrible confusion of our day when people are terrible confused about where and Who Jesus Christ is, when we talk about the incredulity of the Jewish ruling elite they heard Jesus preach in the synagogue: “And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?” No Christian should ask that question because they should know who Jesus is but we know only if we live according to the Spirit, and not according to secular life. This day is also the commemoration of the Holy Equal to the Apostles and Proto-martyr Thekla, and the reading for is a very common reading for women martyrs, about the 10 virgins. Only five achieve the greatest achievement the human being can have in this world, which is also the greatest of the martyrs. We talk about this achievement, how to be sure about how to live our life and not be confused. In the midst of our discussion, we mention the medical and social confusion of our day regarding sickness, and unfortunately some will focus only on these words, but we cannot understand anything without achieving that which we are called to, and the person who has this great gift is not confused about anything in life.

Ephesians 2:4–10, Luke 8:26–39
Explanation of the healing of the Gadarene demoniacs. It would benefit us to answer the question posed by the devils in the story — what have you to do with me, son of the Most High? What have I to do with you? The answer to that question is bound up in our Christian identity. A discussion about salvation and Grace.
