Our first Patreon meet-up (การพบปะกับ Patreon ครั้งแรกของเรา)
We've had our Patreon page set up for about 18 months and Kusuma was one of our first supporters so it was a great opportunity to meet her and her sister for the first time. If you don't know what Patreon is, it is one of the crowdfunding sites that is approved by YouTube where you can pledge support for their channel or a project the creator might be involved with. In our situation, we don't make a big point of the generosity of our viewers and it is in no way required for our continued general content creation but over the next 12 months, we will be doing more for our supporters with some more specialised content just for them.
Anyway, the 3 girls had a great time hanging out at the mall and Kusuma was grinning ear to ear so I could tell she was enjoying her little shopping mall adventure. Of course, I do send my condolences regarding her recent bereavement, and it was a pity her husband didn't make it to Thailand this trip but we do hope to catch up with them when they come out for their next visit.

I've been hard at work tweaking my video gear to produce a somewhat unique experience for our Discord channel members where they can join in and participate with us on a group ride. This phase 2 test was a success and the people who joined were able to see a forward-facing view of where we were riding while being able to have a group chat with the riders. The final phase of this will happen when Bolt (from Hey Kid it's Dad), Todd when he finally escapes down under to live in Thailand and anyone else who can set up the necessary comms kit for their helmets decide to join us. The full un-cut ride will only be available on our Discord server but we will also record a condensed version like this video for our regular viewers which will be the main highlights of the ride and a special long plat version for others who couldn't make it to the event. The main takeaway from this test today was that the technology behind the scene all worked flawlessly and the audio channels from Discord stitched well into the YouTube video format.

And for those people who are interested in the helmet coms kit I used, it is a Vimoto V6 which I found on Lazada. Obviously, I'm not making any special promotion for Vimoto as any helmet comms kit that can make a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone will work fine. I was very happy with the price and clarity of the Vimoto kit and it runs in way cheaper than brands like Sena and Cardo

Today is the day Chanya officially opens her new Salon. I really can't believe how quickly this has all come together and how professional the shop looks. She has worked very hard to get this up and running in only 3 weeks since she signed the lease.
We visited our local temple last Sunday to make a request for the senior monk to come and bless the shop. I do remember speaking with this monk last year and found out that he has been watching her grow up for nearly all her life and she holds a special place in his heart. It is really nice to have his blessing and I'm sure she will have good luck in her business venture for the future.
She really looks happy to have the shop running and she really seems to be proud of her achievement.

One of the most interesting cultural anomalies in Thai culture is the idea that wearing different coloured clothes can be good or unlucky for you. Although Wednesdays are good for wearing Green, she wanted to know why I wouldn't wear Pink so that we could be matching. Well, what can I say! Boys just don't wear pink darling! Hahaha

We had the opportunity to meet up with another of our good friends and channel followers today. Rob and his wife Bee have been visiting Thailand since the late 90's. Rob tells me he's now at that point where he can also retire early and now plans to move to Cha Am when next year. We had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and got to catch up on all the Sydney gossip. After all, Rob spent most of his life on the north shore of Sydney as well so it was a case of two Sydney boys hanging out in Silom for 7 hours.

I chose early retirement over working the 40 40 40 plan and now I'm living stress-free as an Aussie expat living in Thailand with my Thai girlfriend.
