Bali is an exotic island paradise that has become incredibly popular with tourists in recent years, even though Bali has changed to accommodate its tourist popularity, it still preserves its rich spiritual culture and traditions. so to avoid offending the locals here are 10 Things NOT To Do in Bali!
1. Avoid Kuta
Unless you're in your early twenties and looking to have a partying vacation you will never remember, avoid Kuta! It's full of clubs, bars, and tourist traps but nothing else. even the beach is unimpressive!
2. Don't rent a scooter (unless you can ride!)
Due to increased population, Balis roads are becoming more and more saturated and therefore accidents, especially motorbike ones, are becoming more frequent. In addition to this, a lack of highway code means the bikers will constantly cut each other off. if you do hire a scooter don't drive aggressively, yield to others and they will yield to you!
3. Barter with your heart....er
If you visit a street market, storekeepers expect you to negotiate the price, if you wish to purchase an item, be polite and courteous and barter lightly. Remember that the couple of dollars that you save is a whole meal for the shopkeeper's family.
4. Don't underdress
It's hot in Bali and wearing shorts or a bikini is fine when you are on the beach, but not when walking around town. Men are expected to wear a shirt and women should cover their shoulders and knees, especially in sacred places.
5. Don't forget to look both ways
Motorbikes are everywhere, and I mean everywhere! on the wrong side of the road, going the wrong way down a one-way street, and even on the sidewalk. Stay alert and always look both ways before crossing.
6. Don't buy Imported alcohol
Imported alcohol in Bali can be up to 3 times more expensive than it is at home so it's worth trying the local beverages. Bintang, Anker, and Bali Hai are three perfectly good local lagers and Rice-based spirits like Arak and Ciu are also very good.
7. Don't just follow the crowd
when you go to Bali don't just see what everyone else see's, don't be afraid to stray from the beaten track and visit rural villages, the northern highlands, and stunning waterfalls. The authentic Bali still exists but you have to look for it.
8. Don't be a litterbug!
Like most islands, Bali has a refuse problem and it's growing as fast as its tourist industry. Don't add to the problem!. Since early 2019 Bali started a no plastic movement to try to eradicate single-use plastic from the island. help out by using reusable shopping bags and water bottles and refusing plastic straws and other single-use items.

The average cruise is 7 days long.
The average ship has 3000 guests
The average guest will produce around 3kg of poop!
That's 9 tonnes of poop that have to be dealt with, and that's not including urine or the water needed to flush it all away!
Of course, it could just all go in the sea as fish poop does, but apparently, dumping human poop in the sea could upset the ocean's natural bacterial balance.
This means that 9000 kilos of poop and over half a million liters of wastewater have to be processed onboard the cruise ship.
1. Down the Tubes.
It all starts with that first flush, your waste gets sucked away using a vacuum waste system to reduce the amount of precious water used on each flush.
2. Black Water System
Your waste enters the black water system.
A cruise ship has two wastewater systems: The gray water system that deals with cleaner wastewater, like laundry, shower, and basin waste, and the black water system that deals with, well.... The black stuff.
3. Prefilter
The waste travels through the waste pipework down into the bowels of the ship where it passes through a basic filter that removes the matter that can't be processed on board. this matter is stored until the ship docks where it is then taken off onto land and processed.
4. Aeration Chamber
The waste that made it through the first filter enters an aeration chamber.
In this chamber, air is blown in to aeriate the wastewater in order to encourage oxygen-hungry aerobic bacteria to begin breaking down the waste matter.
5. Settlement Chamber.
Next the waste enters the settlement chamber. Here the waste is left to... yep, you guessed it, settle!
In this chamber the denser waste falls to the bottom and is sent back to the aeration chamber to repeat the process, the lighter matter forms a scum layer that floats on top, this layer is slowly broken down by anaerobic bacteria (smaller bacteria that don't require oxygen).
The water in the middle area is now relatively clean and can move on to the next chamber.
6. Sterilization Chamber.
In this chamber the "Clean" water undergoes a sterilization process.
Different companies use different methods for sterilization, chlorine is used sometimes but it is generally thought that it could be a risk to marine life, the most common method used is UV light.
7. Dumping.
Now the water is sterilized and clean enough, it can be released into the sea, however, there are various rules and regulations about how fast the ship should be traveling when dumping wastewater and how far away from land it should be. The commonly agreed distance is around 12 nautical miles.

Italy… a country bursting with art and history. From pilgrimages to the Vatican to hitting the nightclubs in Milan, Italy sure is full of so many things to see and do that you’ll definitely want to go wild on this holiday. But, don't be too reckless, there are still some things you shouldn't do in Italy.
1) Don't forget to Validate your Ticket
Tickets for regional trains need to be validated, there are some exceptions, but in general terms, you have to validate your ticket before boarding. So find a validation machine, push your ticket into the slot until you hear the stamp being applied and your ticket will be good to go for up to six hours.
2) Don't order latte
Let's see... what do you want? a coffee? or milk? Latte means milk, so if you order a latte, you'll get a glass of milk. On the other hand, if you want a coffee, ask for an espresso, cappuccino... Try to remember that.
3) Don't forget to drive carefully
In Italy there are limited traffic zones. You'll need a permit to go through them and they don't give them to tourists. The ‘Centro Storico’ is usually a limited traffic area. There are no barriers, however, so if you cross over the limits a camera will take a picture of your license plate and you'll get a hefty fine... even if your car is rented.
4) Book in Advance
There are plenty of wonderful monuments to visit, but be clever and think about which ones in advance so that you can buy the tickets online. If not, you'll have to wait for hours to enter some places.
5) Don't Dress inappropriately in Churches
You may not want to miss the opportunity of visiting some of the best churches and cathedrals in the world. But, even if it's too hot, try not to wear shorts or go with bare shoulders. Remember to take some respectable clothes for those visits.
6) Don't Trust your GPS
Yes, I know you have all the maps of the world in your GPS, ok, right, however that won't be very useful for you here. In Italy, there are a lot of towns and villages from different regions with the same name. So, be clear about which is the one you want to head to.
7) Don't Assume You’re Getting Tap Water
In Italy, they prefer to drink bottled water, so if you're in a restaurant and you ask for still water, don't expect them to bring you a glass of tap water. They will bring you a bottle. So, to avoid misunderstandings, just make sure the waiter know which type you mean.
8) Don't eat in the Tourist Spots
This is a pretty standard rule of thumb to follow for most countries, if you’re looking for authentic food, and Italy is definitely no different. Colombian-born Eliana guerrero: the pickpocket huntress of Barcelona’s subways
While riding the subway in her hometown of Barcelona, Eliana Guerrero saw pickpockets steal a case of insulin from two elderly tourists. That crime motivated guerrero to do something for help her city. “i try to solve things that affect me directly,” says guerrero. “pickpockets directly affect me because i adore barcelona.”
since 2009 eliana guerrero has spent around 3 hours a day patrolling the barcelona metro.
Armed with a whistle and only a few items for protection, such as pepper spray, she travels the metro warning tourists about the dangers of pickpockets and confronting the pickpockets themselves, herding them out of the metro, with the help of the transport police.
Eliana says, “my mother always told me, ‘one swallow doesn’t make a summer. Many people are needed to change things.’ but i don’t think so. If a person says, there’s something wrong here, that’ll draw attention, and more people will eventually join you. But somebody should take the initiative.”

Did you know that if your flight is delayed the Airline should be providing you with free food and drinks?
Or that if you cancel your ticket or miss your flight, the airline should be reimbursing you with up to 70% of your ticket price?
If not, stay tuned for more laws that airlines don't want you to know!
1. It's illegal to charge for hand luggage.
By law, hand luggage is considered "Necessary items" and not "Baggage"; therefore, an Airline cannot legally charge you for bringing it aboard.
Airlines that still charge their passengers for hand luggage do so because the money they receive from doing this greatly outweighs what they have to pay out to the very few passengers who actually claim compensation and the fines they have to pay for breaking the law in the first place.
2. Ticket Refund.
Whether you cancel your ticket in advance or just moments before your flight, (even if it's entirely your own fault) you are in fact entitled to at least a partial refund.
Ticket prices can be broken down into three parts:
The base fare, fees, and taxes.
If you cancel just before the flight you are entitled to a refund on the fees and taxes which in some cases can be up to 70% of the ticket price.
If you notify the airline before you cancel and they are able to resell your ticket, you could be entitled to up to 95% of your ticket price.
3. Delays
If your flight arrives at its final destination over 3 hours late and the delay wasn't due to "Extraordinary circumstances" such as extreme weather, you are entitled to compensation.
On flights up to 1500 km, the amount is 250 euros,
on flights between 1500 and 3500 km, it's 400 euros,
and on flights over 3500 km, it's 600 euros.
If your flight is delayed by 2 hours the Airline is obliged to supply you with free meals and refreshments, if this delay should exceed 5 hours, you are no longer obliged to take the flight and the airline must provide you with either a full refund, a ticket for a later flight under comparable conditions, or an alternative form of transport, and, independent of the option you choose, you are also entitled to the compensation of up to 600 euros depending on the distance of your flight.
4. Cancellations
If your airline cancels your flight over 14 days beforehand, they are not obliged to pay you compensation.
If they cancel between 8 and 14 days before, they must offer an alternative flight with a departure time variation of no more than 2 hours and an arrival time no greater than 4, or they must pay you compensation.
If they cancel less the 7 days before they must offer an alternative with variations of less than an hour in departure and 2 in arrival.
However should the airline offer you an alternative that falls outside of this timeframe, or should they offer you coupons or vouchers, or fail to offer an alternative at all, they are obliged to compensate you in the same manner as if your flight were delayed, 250 for 1500km, 400 for between 1500 and 3500km, and 600 for over 3500km.
Should you opt for an alternative flight outside the compensation-free timeframe they are also obliged to pay you 50% of the compensation due.
5. Boarding Denied.
There are various reasons why boarding can be denied, but the most common are overbooking, errors inspecting travel documents, or traveling with a different credit card than the one used to book the flight, and these reasons are all considered the airline's responsibility, and therefore, deserve compensation.
The quantity of that compensation is the same as if the flight were delayed or canceled,
600 for 3500km, 250 for 1500km, and 400 for anywhere in between.
Should you be offered and accept an alternative flight within the stipulated timeframe this compensation is reduced to half that amount.
6. Lost or Damaged Luggage.
From the moment your luggage has been correctly checked in, it is entirely the airline's responsibility.
Therefore, should your luggage get lost, be delayed, or get damaged you are also entitled to compensation.
This compensation should cover the costs of replacing any broken items, reimburse you the cost of any emergency purchases you made due to its delay, and replace any of the articles that have been lost, and could be as much as 1500 euros.
However, should your luggage go astray you must claim compensation in a timely manner and be sure to fill in a Property Irregularity Report form before you leave the airport.

The Caribbean is being choked to death by a massive dump of floating garbage. An incredible sea of plastic that is taking over the oceans of our planet.
Over 300 million tons will be produced this year. Most is never recycled and remains on our land and in our seas for ever.
We contribute to it everyday by littering and using un-biodegradable materials which eventually makes its way from landfills into rivers, and travels downstream from rivers into the ocean, where currents sweep it to the closest patch.
Where it kills marine life and slowly enters back into our food chain.

Norway is a land of contrasts, from snow-capped mountains to lush green valleys and alpine tundras to breathtaking fjords. It has a natural beauty that the Norwegians strive to preserve.
However, like every other country, Norway must progress and the natural beauty they treasure is also an obstacle that has hindered them, until now.
Norway is a long and thin country that is mainly coastline, this means that to travel the 700 miles from Kristiansand in the south to Trondheim in the north takes 21 hours, that’s an average speed of around 30mph! It also uses 7 different ferries and over $200 in fuel, making the transport of materials and goods a long and costly process.
They are working to change this, How?....by building the” e39 coastal highway”.
This $47 billion project is designed to cut travel costs and time in half.
The idea is to build a coastal highway that consists of bridges and tunnels to create a more direct route and allow higher average speed to be maintained.
Due to the extreme weather experienced in Norway, bridges and tunnels aren’t always the best option, high winds can be dangerous to bridges and the sheer width they have to span in some cases make them impractical. Tunnels can be drilled when the fjord isn’t too deep but the wider the fjord is, the deeper it is, which makes them impractical too.
The solution? Floating Tunnels!.... Yes, FLOATING TUNNELS.
These S.F.T.Bs or submerged floating tube bridges are designed to balance the weight of the tunnel with its buoyancy so the tunnel can literally float below the surface. Cables attached to the sea bed or to floating pontoons will secure them and the tunnels will be sunk to a sufficient depth so as not to be in danger of collision from boats or ships.
These tunnels will have emergency exits, lights, and phones at various intervals as well as their own dedicated emergency services in case of a breakdown or accident.
The project is estimated to cost $47 billion although some estimate it to be closer to $90 billion to finish the project. Once finished, tolls will be charged for the first 20 years to cover the costs.
While this project may seem extravagant and expensive the estimated benefits to commerce and tourism are far superior!
