The IT-1 (Russian: Истребитель танков–1 - 'Istrebitel tankov–1', lit. 'tank destroyer-1') was a Soviet cold war missile tank based on the hull of the T-62. The tank fired specially designed 3M7 Drakon missiles from a pop-up launcher. It saw a very limited service between 1968 and 1970. The large deadzone around the tank created by the missiles' minimum range combined with the limited amount of ammunition carried made it unpopular with the military. Also, the 520 kg of guidance equipment needed for the missile was impractical. Eventually, the tanks were converted into recovery vehicles. A turbine-powered version was also developed named the IT-1T.
The IT-1 had a crew of three, a driver, gunner and commander. It was armed with a pop-up missile launcher fitted into a low profile turret along with a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun with 2000 rounds of ammunition. Twelve 3M7 Drakon missiles were stored in an automatic loader and a further three were stored in an unarmoured box on the back of the turret. Every missile was stored in a storage container in the shape of a long rectangular box. Upon loading of a new missile, a hatch would open on the roof of the turret, with the missile being raised out of the turret by the autoloader. The storage container of the missile would then be jettisoned, allowing the 3M7 Drakon to extend its stabiliser fins, readying the weapon to be fired.
The missile was radio-command guided, using any one of seven frequencies and two codes. That prevented vehicles within a single unit interfering with each other. It was launched slightly upward, and at an angle to offset any wind drift during the first second of unguided flight. A tracer on the rear of the missile allowed the guidance system to track the missile and transmit radio commands to the missile. The commands were decoded by the missile and translated into deflection of the missiles fins. To ensure night combat capability, night-vision equipment was provided, but substantially reduced the missile's range.

The Mark 45 gun 5" (127 mm)/54 caliber (Mk 45) lightweight gun is a U.S. naval artillery gun mount consisting of a 5 in (127 mm) L54 Mark 19 gun on the Mark 45 mount. It was designed and built by United Defense, a company later acquired by BAE Systems Land & Armaments, which continued manufacture.
The latest 62-calibre-long version consists of a longer-barrel L62 Mark 36 gun fitted on the same Mark 45 mount. The gun is designed for use against surface warships, anti-aircraft and shore bombardment to support amphibious operations. The gun mount features an automatic loader with a capacity of 20 rounds. These can be fired under full automatic control, taking a little over a minute to exhaust those rounds at maximum fire rate. For sustained use, the gun mount would be occupied by a six-person crew (gun captain, panel operator, and four ammunition loaders) below deck to keep the gun continuously supplied with ammunition.
Variants:
Mod 0: used mechanical fuze setter. Two piece rifled construction, with replaceable liner.
Mod 1: electronic fuze setter replaces the mechanical one. Made with a unitary construction barrel, which has a life span approximately twice that of the Mark 42 gun.
Mod 2: export version of Mod 1, but now used in the US Navy (DDG 51-80 / CG’s)
Mod 3: same gun with a new control system; never put into production.
Mod 4: longer 62 caliber barrel for more complete propellant combustion, higher velocity, greater range at +20 nm (36 km) and thus more utility for land attack
Fully-automatic naval gun mount employed against surface (Anti-Surface Warfare - ASuW), air (Anti-Air Warfare - AAW), and land attack (Naval Surface Fire Support - NSFS) targets.
The MK 45 gun was developed as a lighter weight, more easily maintained replacement for the MK 42 5”/54 caliber gun mount. It is designed to engage surface and air targets and to provide naval surface fire support for expeditionary operations. The MK 45 Mod 4 gun mount upgrade includes a longer barrel (62 caliber) that improves the gun’s effectiveness as a land attack weapon (naval surface fire support).
The gun mount includes a 20 round automatic loader drum. The gun's maximum firing rate is 16-20 rounds from the loader drum per minute. The rounds in the loader drum can be fired with one crewmember located at the EP-2 console below deck. Additional rounds can be accomplished by the full crew (Mount Captain, EP-2 Operator and four ammunition handlers), all of which are stationed below deck.

The PT-91 Twardy (hard) is an improved variant of the Soviet T-72 main battle tank. The PT-91 was developed in Poland in the early 1990s. Production of the PT-91 Twardy tanks for the Polish Army were completed in 2002. A total of 233 tanks were delivered. Currently Polish Army also operates 120 older T-72M1 tanks (plus 470 in storage) and a number of ex-German Leopard 2A4 and Leopard 2A5 tanks. The older Leopard 2A4 tanks are planed to be upgraded to Leopard 2PL standard.
In 2002 Germany donated to Poland a number of Leopard 2A4 tanks from the German Army stocks. Some former units equipped with Twardy, are now equipped with the Leopard 2A4 and 2A5 tanks. In turn units formerly equipped with the T-72M1 tanks are now equipped with the Twardy. It is planned that PT-91 Twardy tanks will be operational until 2030.
Twardy's protection is enhanced by utilizing indigenously developed ERAWA explosive reactive armor blocks. There is a total of 394 ERAWA blocks covering front of the hull and the turret. These blocks are placed virtually without gaps to each other. It is worth mentioning that explosive reactive armor blocks on the Soviet of the Cold War era usually have 15 mm gaps or even more, thus reducing overall protection. Tests shown that ERAWA blocks improve tank's protection by 30-70% depending on the ammunition type used. However armor of the PT-91 can not withstand modern Western 120 mm tank gun ammunition fired from 2 000 m range.
The PT-91 Twardy is armed with a 125 mm main gun, which is similar to that, used on the T-72. The gun is fitted with an autoloader. The PT-91 Twardy has new gun stabilization system and new fire control system. Other systems and sights have also been improved.
Secondary armament consists of coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun and roof mounted 12.7 mm machine gun.
Vehicle has a crew of three, including commander, gunner and driver.
The PT-91 has more powerful engine, comparing with the T-72. It is fitted with the S-12U diesel engine, developing 850 horsepower. There was also developed a S-1000 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 1 000 horsepower.
