The Elder Scrolls game and Oblivion in particular was my first step into what incredible open world games can be. When I saw it for the first time, I think that was the first time I thought to myself I HAVE to get a top-notch PC. The atmosphere, sense of grandeur in a huge world, and intense medieval warfare within a magical place, I can't just explain how amazing this game was to me. I've spent a lot of time with friends watching it played, playing it myself, and just getting lost in one fantastic journey after another. Jeremy Soule's outstanding soundtrack is just a supplement to one of my favorite games of all time, with glorious melodies, burning battle themes that rival Lord of the Rings', and of course his rendition of the Elder Scrolls theme. I hope you guys check out the series and Oblivion if you haven't, and really dig this. Musically, this is a new story. For the first time, I arranged the ENTIRE 7+ minute medley as an orchestration with percussion, sampled strings and horns, and woodwinds. I imported the whole sucker back into a metal project to give it my Swiggles style mixture and we were talking 3-4 GB of RAM being eaten up. Though I was planning on just barely covering each tune as is and moving on, I realized this had to be my best work yet and best medley yet so I left in two guitar solos. After my 1-Week Medley, I decided to return to the main theme at the end too! You might even pick up that I had some influence from Dream Theater's Octavarium/Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence to get the orchestra and metal to blend just right. ▶️ Get my NEW METROID ALBUM: A song that certainly captures adventure, mystery, sci-fi action, and is totally slept on outside Super Metroid! When replaying this game and especially listening to Allison's fantastic version, I felt like the Theme of Samus Aran is a crucial part of the series, even though it hardly gets used outside of Crateria surface and a few other Metroid games! When working on my redo/remake/upgrade album "The Dark Hunter Rises" I had to include at least one or two new tracks and this one was the first I started with! The drums ablaze and harder dynamics in the riffs were inspired by folks like Metroid Metal who arrange brilliant live metal covers, and I hope that adds to some of the fun in the arrangement!
