American Students in Exchange in Germany visit the largest Karneval/Fasching festivals in Cologne, Germany. In this Vlog I take a train to Bad Godesberg in Bonn to see the festival there, followed by Karneval in the City of Bonn Itself, then we take a train to Cologe for the real madness of the festivities in the city. What is it like at a German High School? This video is about my first week as an American Exchange student living in Germany with a host family and going to school at Gymnasium in the town town Herzogenaurach in the German state of Bavaria. I am an American Student Living in Germany with the Full Scholarship Cultural Exchange Gap-Year Program, Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange. CBYX works with international exchange organizations like AFS, YFU, ASSEE, CIEE, Nacel Open Door and Cultural Vistas to provide exchange opportunities for hundreds of German and American Students Each Year. What did I learn from this experience, you might ask? Where do I begin! First things first, there is no such thing as German "high school". You see, the education system in Germany is very different from that of our system in America. After what would be our Elementary school (Called Grundschule in Germany) German students have the choice between three different academic institutional to continue their education: Haubtshule/Mittelschule, Realschule, and Gymnasium.
