SAIT, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Invasion of Privacy, and Civil-Academic-disobedience
My argument comes down to this: If I disagree with a company's ethics policy, can I still achieve the same marks as everybody else?
For example, being against LinkedIn's privacy policy does not allow me to use their service. If this service is required to get a better
grade, does that mean that standing for my ethics requires I take a hit in grades? If so, is that right? Is there anyway to fight that?
I don't know.

I will write an article about this on my website within the next month (exams are coming up): https://tait.tech/blog/

For now, here are some links to get you started on seeing my problem.

1. I checked LinkedIn's privacy policy, and they aren't even trying to deny the ~selling~ 'sharing' of your data with advertisers (see 2.4): https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy-summary
2. Microsoft violating Dutch privacy law: https://betanews.com/2017/10/15/windows-10-telemetry-violates-privacy-laws/
3. The Infamous NSA Powerpoint slides; proof of collaboration between big-tech and the NSA (see slide 5, Current Providers; slide 3 "Collection directly from the servers of...Microsoft...Google...Facebook...YouTube...Apple")): https://nsa.gov1.info/dni/prism.html
1. (A note on the above source: notice it is a .info, not a .gov; I don't know what's on the rest of this site, but the PRISM slides are there in full w/ redactions.)
4. Android vs. iOS, which one spies on you more (a video by Brian Lunduke): https://lbry.tv/@Lunduke:e/android-vs-ios-which-spies-on-you-more:6
1. The article he references: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/12/10/business/location-data-privacy-apps.html
2. The study he references (PDF, 55 pages)https://digitalcontentnext.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/DCN-Google-Data-Collection-Paper.pdf
5. SAIT's Ethical Principles: https://www.sait.ca/about-sait/administration/governance/ethical-principles
6. SAIT's Laptop Program: https://www.sait.ca/student-life/student-services/technical-support/student-resources/laptops-and-hardware
7. SAIT's email provider (see Email subheading): https://www.sait.ca/student-life/student-services/technical-support/student-resources

Wish me luck semester three!
