While this doesn't seem like a big deal... it is!
Consider a $100,000 investment. An expense ratio of 0.05% is $50 versus 0.04% is $40. Over 40 years, this is a difference of $400! That $400 could otherwise have been invested in the equity for long-term growth and gain... a potential difference (at an average compounded growth of 10%) of over $5,320!!!
So yes, even a 0.01% drop in an expense ratio makes a MASSIVE difference over the long term, especially with large capital. Thank you, Vanguard! (And thank you other companies for being competition to keep these expense ratios low!!!) Huzzah for the average investor!

In this video I talk about another common investing strategy that uses three different classes of investments to completely diversify your long-term portfolio, especially if you use the total market ETFs I mention in the video! There are of course many other ETFs and individual assets that you can choose that would still fall into the SBRE method; I am using the ones in the video as an example.
While the SBRE method is considered a sound investing plan by many, I do not recommend utilizing it unless you accept the risk of the markets and everything you are investing in!

My thoughts looking at this now are:
1) Should I include more starter-companies to increase risk/reward (e.g. SWCH)?
2) Should I boost the bond % up to a more reasonable 80/20 overall?
I talk about my M1 Finance long-term investing portfolio. I believe it is a well-balanced portfolio, albeit stock-heavy. It is well diversified and still has bonds incorporated within the portfolio. The overall Stocks/Bonds ratio is 88.5/11.5. This is separate from my IRA portfolio. I will add assets once I am comfortable with the ratios and balance of companies/ETFs.
Portfolio Specifications:
Main Stocks: ER 0%, Dividend Yield 2.004%
60/40: ER 0.06%, Dividend Yield 2.763%
High Dividend: ER 0.05%, Dividend Yield 5.964%
Other Stocks: ER 0%, Dividend Yield 2.439%
Overall Portfolio: ER 0.02%, Dividend Yield 2.831%

In this video I talk about hands-down the WORST trade that I have ever made so far. Thankfully, the loss was not substantial, but the principle behind the trade was trash and is honestly more dissatisfying than the loss itself.
I took this trade off-plan, and sold off-plan. Net result? A loss, of course!
I am posting this video to keep myself accountable, and to admit my mistakes so that I and others can learn from them. I believe that we learn best when we grow from our own shortcomings.
In response to this horrible trade, I have created a structured trading plan for myself with a tracking Excel spreadsheet to follow my progress. My hope is to make several trades via this method before creating a video for it.
In the spirit of this channel, we are in it together to learn to become better traders. Learn from my mistakes! Stay true to your trading plan.
