Learn from your own life
You seldom learn from stories told by others, mishaps, mistakes, or misadventures.
True learning comes from our own experience.
Mistakes are not mistakes if you can learn and become a better person.
Make all your mistakes and use them to improve yourself.

The Perkins Farm conservation property is owned by the City of Worcester. It is 62 acres with 1.4 miles of public trails. Open to Public dawn to dusk.
This is the site of one of the last farms in Worcester. It is an area that is forested with
beautiful large oak trees that form a majestic canopy over the property. There is a short uphill
climb to get into the property, but after that, most of the paths are relatively flat. The
understory contains blueberries, Bracken Ferns, Sweet-fern, Sassafras, Yellow Wild Indigo, and
other wildflowers. In the Spring, one trail has a cluster of Pink Lady’s-slippers.
Another highlight is the view overlooking the railroad tracks and Lake Quinsigamond from the
extension of the Tiger Beetle Trail. The view is especially memorable in the Spring and Fall
when the leaves are off the trees. One caution - don’t venture out onto the railroad tracks.
These are two active CSX tracks and trains regularly come by at high speed.

“The beginning is the most important part of the work." Plato, The Republic
Meaningful quotes that offer words of wisdom about life.
Plato was a Greek philosopher born in Athens during the Classical period in Ancient Greece. He founded the Platonist school of thought and the Academy, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world.
Plato's metaphysics and epistemology appear to have been originally influenced by Presocratic thinkers. As a young man, however, Plato became a student of Socrates and turned his attention to the question of what constitutes a virtuous life. Almost all of Plato's writings date from after Socrates's trial and execution.
Plato (437-347) was Socrates’ prized student. From a wealthy and powerful family, his actual name was Aristocles -- Plato was a nickname, referring to his broad physique. When he was about twenty, he came under Socrates’ spell and decided to devote himself to philosophy. Devastated by Socrates’ death, he wandered around Greece and the Mediterranean and was taken by pirates. His friends raised money to ransom him from slavery, but when he was released without it, they bought him a small property called Academus to start a school -- the Academy, founded in 386.
Socrates was a Greek philosopher from Athens credited as the founder of Western philosophy and among the first moral philosophers of the ethical tradition of thought.
Aristotle was Plato’s prize student, even though he disagreed with him on many points.
Aristotle was a Greek philosopher and polymath during the Classical period in Ancient Greece. Taught by Plato, he was the founder of the Lyceum, the Peripatetic school of philosophy, and the Aristotelian tradition.
Aristotle (384-322) was born in a small Greek colony in Thrace called Stagira. His father was a physician and served the grandfather of Alexander the Great. Presumably, his father taught him to take an interest in the details of natural life.
When Plato died, Aristotle stayed for a while with another student of Plato, who had made himself a dictator in northern Asia Minor. He married the dictator’s daughter, Pythias. They moved to Lesbos, where Pythias died giving birth to their only child, a daughter. Although he married again, his love for Pythias never died, and he requested that they be buried side by side.
For four years, Aristotle served as the teacher of thirteen-year-old Alexander, son of Philip of Macedon. In 334, he returned to Athens and established his school of philosophy in a set of buildings called the Lyceum (from a name for Apollo). The beautiful grounds and covered walkways were conducive to leisurely walking discussions, so the students were named for the peripatoi (“covered walkways”).

Scincopus fasciatus are said to be Nocturnal, but mine tend to be active morning and evening. I think they are mostly active when they feel like it and don't actully fit as diurnal (wakefulness concentrated during the light phase), nocturnal (wakefulness concentrated during the dark phase), or even crepuscular (most activity occurring during twilight).
They do fit as cathemeral (activity during both the day and the night). At least the ones I care for.
Peter's banded skink, Scincopus fasciatus, is a species of skink that thrive in social groups.
According to my research, In the wild, they live in groups of 3 to 8 around Sweat potato farms.
They are found in the Northern part of the Continent of Africa along the Southern Sahara desert. They can be found in the countries of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan (Jumhūriyyat), Republic of South Sudan (RSS), Libya, and Sub-Sahara.
I find them very friendly and curious. They prefer insects but will eat some plants and vegetables.
I have 3 and want to increase my colony to many more. My goal is to captive breed them, but that will take a lot of work.
