In this video I am up on the St Lawrence River 1000 Islands Lake Ontario practicing for the FLW Costa Series. I end up finding some good smallmouth bass and decide to enter into the ABA Ram Series Tournament this coming Saturday. I figured I might now get a chance to run to these fish in the actual Costa event due to high winds and perhaps FLW deciding to make Lake Ontario off limits. I had a pretty good few days of practice and was averaging a 5 pound average for the most part. Lots of good size smallmouths are schooled up right now and are in 20-30 feet of water. I was also getting some fish up shallow but wasn't going to rely on those shallow fish. It was hit or miss and the conditions had to be right in order for me to sight fish for cruising fish. I felt I could catch a good bag of fish over 25 pounds if everything went right for me. I ended up catching most of fish on a drop shot with the Gajo Bait Spirit Shad in Smoke Purple. The Spirit Shad has been my go to bait this year and it certainly didn't let me down in this tournament.
