This is my very first video.
Hi my name is David and I am 26yrs old, I recently broke my ankle which means I have a lot of sedentary time on my hands.
I love youtube, everything from cats falling off sofas, people dying their hair red to people talking about current affairs. With all this in mind I have decided to introduce myself to the youtube community.
Why am I doing this?
Boredom is obviously playing a big part because I broken my ankle but I think it will be really interesting to find out what all of this is about. Will anyone watch.......
So what do I do?
I work on websites for my job but I enjoy playing 5 a-side football, learning to play guitar and socialising with mates.
What do I plan to do?
Rant, ramble and talk about my life. What is it like to have a broken ankle? What am I watching on TV? What am I reading and What am I looking forward to?
Thanks for watching and please comment or post a video response.

I have salvaged this lovely Commodore PET 2001 - 8 (Earliest time code on ICs is 1978 so far) from eternal storage and inevitable decay.
I hope to restore the PET to a reliable condition by cleaning the board connectors etc, replacing capacitors where feasible and reseating all of the accessible chips. Some may even need replacing but I will cross that horrendous bridge when I come to it. I have very little experience with this but the PET is in ok nick after being in an engineering lab for 35 years. So as a warning, do not take this as a tutorial.
I would love some advice, so if you can share some techniques I would be very grateful. If you have any memories of 1970's computing or have similar old tech then please let everyone know.

Sorry it got very sunny after I started recording.
I picked up these wireless charging (or just power) modules from http://www.coolcomponents.co.uk/wireless-charging-module-1138.html
They are pretty simple and do exactly what is described. You may find the advertised maximum distance difficult to achieve, I think I only got to around 10mm.
They are from Seeed Studios, who also make a 300ma version but this one is capable of kicking out 600ma.

I have really enjoyed playing around with the FormFutura EasyWood filament. If you would like to pick some up you can get it here - http://www.formfutura.com/easywood/
Wood crate - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:445717
Pallet - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:154960
Low poly tree - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1609980
If you would like to win a sample post a picture of your favourite print including @mrdavidjwatts and @formfutura. I will judge the entries (Not very democratic...) and post the winner/winners the filament for free. I will give it a couple of weeks before choosing a winner.

This is a die (Dice singular) that will let the user know what side it has landed on with an audio message. It uses an ADXL345, an ATMEGA328 and a micro sd card to store the audio. The idea is that this could be useful for people with visual impairments but also fun for people without sight difficulty.
The project uses open source libraries from TMRPCM (WAV playback) and for now the Adafruit ADXL345 library.
I have completed one large prototype, it actually freakin' works!

Just to be clear, this is just me helping out with a student project, the board is my design but it is their circuit/system. I helped a bit with the code too. In hindsight I should have knocked up this board with the lack of through-hole plating in mind. However, it worked out OK. The Dupont cables are great but I should have just cut the ends off, oh well, we live and learn. It all works so that is the main thing :-)
If all goes well and the students approve, I will share the rest of their project with you.

No electronics in this video so feel free to smash the dislike button ;-)
I picked up a couple of desks from IKEA to reorganise my work space. Here are the two I got:
SKARSTA Desk sit/stand - https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/desks/desk-computer-desks/skarsta-desk-sit-stand-white-spr-29084966/
FINNVARD/LINNMON Table - https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/desks/desk-computer-desks/finnvard-linnmon-table-white-spr-09001986/
Originally Iooked at the electric BEKANT desk but I could not really justify the cost when the manual SKARSTA was soooooo much cheaper.
