The Boat Inn, Jackfield
Dropped in at The Boat Inn, Jackfield, near Ironbridge. There's an amazing number of historic industrial and other buildings along the river Severn in this area. The Boat Inn is famous partly due to being routinely flooded. On my visit it was definitely closed due to recent flooding; note the sand bags at the doorways. Looking through the window it was a sea of mud & silt inside. 'Business as usual' for The Boat Inn; no doubt it will be cleaned up & open again before too long.
The Jackfield & Coalport Memorial Bridge (pedestrian) crosses the river next to the pub.

Beautiful day in Barmouth; sunny but cool & with occasional, intense rain showers. The view from Dinas Oleu, above the town, is as stunning as ever. Some property improvement work underway but many shops closed & the town strangely subdued.
Dinas Oleu, (‘Fortress of Light’), was a Roman-period hill fort on a four and a half acre parcel of land. It was the first property to be given to help form the National Trust and was donated in 1895 by Mrs Fanny Talbot, a local landowner and philanthropist who was a major figure in Barmouth.
