Deiform Archetypes And The Limitations Of Interpretatio
There was far too much to cover for a short video. People wore wheel pendants in devotion to Taranis, much like Thors hammer and Peruns axe. Manannán mac Lir also rides a chariot and is associated with thunderstorms, but is also a guardian of sailors and is more like Neptune than anything. Donn, the "dark one", also called "an fer derg"- the red man, is a chthonic God of the dead, yet in folklore is said to ride a dapple-grey horse, yet another Odinic trait. The fact is, archetypes remain the same yet to which gods they are attributed changes over time. Other elements may affect it. For example, thunder is meteorologically more common on the continent than in the insular region, hence Taranis is a central God yet Tuirean is minor; cultures who live far from the sea are not going to have a "Neptune-like" figure, etc.

Also, I meant "Gullinbursti" when I said "Gestumblindi", and when Varg talks about how Odin = this/that, he is referring to Odin purely as the "sum of our ancestors" (which he is) and he doesn't mean Odin = _literally_ this god/that one.
