In this video we take a look at an older Lima "Collection" model railway locomotive. This is a Swiss SBB-CFF-FFS Class Bn 4/4 diesel locomotive number 208145.
This HO Scale model railway locomotive gets unboxed and then reviewed close up so you can see what it's like. We also give it a run on some test track and then finish the review by letting you know if you should consider this model railway diesel loco for your railway collection or not.

In this video we take a look at a vintage VEB Eisenbahn-Modellbau Zwichau model of a BR120 diesel locomotive. It's part number EM21.
This is a diesel locomotive designed for freight operation back in Soviet USSR times and this model was made in East Germany by VEB. It's got some quirky things about it, but has fantastic retro vintage charm. Check out what this model it like, what it sounds like when it runs (spoiler: LOUD!) and what the mechanics look like.

The V200 series, designated 120 by the Deutsche Reichsbahn from 1970, was manufactured in the Lugansk locomotive factory from 1964 . The most important feature of this series was and is the principle of diesel-electric power transmission of the locomotive drive. This was introduced into German locomotive use.
In December 1966, the Deutsche Reichsbahn received the first advance locomotives from Lugansk . The engine of the BR V 200 was a two-stroke diesel engine with fan charging . The main generator, which represents the heart of the diesel-electric power transmission, was flanged to the diesel engine. The driver's cabs of the V200 appeared spartan but had the great advantage over the V180 that the noise from the engine room was dampened by effective sound insulation. However, outside the locomotive, the noise level of the two-stroke diesel engine was immense. The Lugansk engineers had not provided a silencer for the V200 and so the exhaust blasts of the two-stroke diesel were directly audible. Because of this noisy situation, the locomotives were given the nickname “Taiga drum”. From V200 001 to V200 177, the machines received a silencer that was developed by GDR technicians. From the locomotive V200 178 and onwards, a Russian-made silencer was installed as standard by the Lugansk factory. Since the V200 series did not have a train heater, it was mainly used in freight transport for the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
