Merry Christmas from the Libertarian Christian Institute, where we give you positive greetings in contrast to the Biden Administration's ominous and troubling Christmas message of illness and death. In this episode we discuss Biden's Christmas message, the Fed's thwarted plan to have a ledger of all our bank account transations, and why GOP and democrats sometimes block bad things from happening, even if not always for the best reasons.

What distinguishes Christian libertarianism from secular (or other) forms of libertarianism? Is it mostly a question of motivation, or are there also differences in policy application? Do Christian libertarians sometimes even disagree with one another on policy? In this round table discussion, we explore these and other questions pertaining to what may be considered unique about a Christian perspective on libertarianism.

Doug and Norman talk about the birth stories of Christ and how Matthew and Luke both use language and employ storytelling techniques that provide a clear anti-Roman and anti-empire story. This is good news for all because the message of liberation is not only about our personal liberation from the captivity of sin, but the cosmic liberation of captivity from slavery and oppression.

Proverbs 20:18 Plans are established by counsel; by wise guidance wage war.
This nuggety bit of wisdom from King Solomon was unfortunately not taken by the current President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin - gosh just saying his name makes you want to be a corrupt oligarch - anyhow, the Vlad wanted to wage a war with his neighbor Ukraine, and for the last 8 months things have not been going so well. Which is funny because it’s not like Ukraine is a beaming beacon of righteous virtue ready to be defended by all the world, no you’re more likely to want to defend Ukraine if you’ve got a few billion greenbacks to launder. And many in the Russian halls of the Kremlin thought that this little excursion into the hinters of Kherson would take but a few weeks, but thus it has not turned out to be so. And for so long we here in the west were told that the most fearsome and formidable fighting machine is the no longer red army. It seems that the current residents of Ukraine are doing a mighty good job at staving off the attack long enough to turn the political tides of the war. So maybe Putin should have spent more time in the library reading books from his allies in China, the country just south east of you.
“He who wishes to fight must first count the cost. When you engage in actual fighting, if victory is long in coming, then men's weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be dampened. If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength.” -Sun Tzu
Actually, it’s going so poorly with the Russian regulars, that they’re going to be conscripting people into service, and if you’re any student of military history, conscription does not go well if your people do not agree with the reason of the war, it never does. Take an army of 300 Spartans over the horde of the Persians any day. But today you have many Russian men fleeing Russia, you can’t even get a one way ticket out of Russia currently because their sold out!

In this episode we are using our recent interview from the Tom Mullen Talk Freedom podcast where we discussed how libertarianism and Christianity meld as a belief system, and some questions from Faith Seeking Freedom. Some may argue that libertarianism is based upon selfishness or isolating-individualism; whereas Christianity demands selflessness. How can one be a follower of both? Sadly, many have misunderstood the actual nature of libertarianism, and what it means to strive for liberty.
