Today I am sharing my new pizza stone solution! A few years back I shared how I purchased a tile from the home improvement store to use as a pizza stone in my home oven. Since then I have had to purchase two more due to cracks and breakage. I ended up spending as much on those budget stones as I did for this one stone I am sharing with you today. So sometimes the cheap option is not the best option. This Pizza Craft stone is going to last me a very long time and hopefully will appear in several videos in the future! This stone is the perfect size for the bottom rack in my oven. Where it will remain as both a pizza stone and a heat sink. Something that will help my oven to retain heat and regulate a more even baking temperature. This stone is approximately 13 x 20 inches and 1/2 inch thick. I am really impressed with the information shared from the manufacturer, Pizza Craft is a small, family owned company. In my opinion the best kind of company to buy from. They are passionate about what they make and they stand behind their quality. I am hopeful that this pizza stone will last me many years and I know should I have any trouble they will be there to help. I want to say that this video is not sponsored. I recently made some homemade garlic knots on the stone and they were fantastic. I can't wait to make some crusty bread on this stone! I also share a quick tip on how I keep my stove top free of debris and clean when not in use. A full size sheet pan does the trick and serves two purposes. First it keeps my drip pans clean and when you have cats you know it can sometimes be hard to keep them off of things when you are not looking. So this pan goes on my stove when I am not cooking or baking. Secondly it gives me an even surface and protects the coil elements of my stove when I want to place my pressure cooker on top to vent out of the stove hood or to place my electric griddle on the top of the stove. Be careful though many stoves, like mine vent the oven out of one of the back burners. So you need to be mindful and remove the sheet pan if you are going to preheat or use the oven. You will end up with a very unpleasant surprise when picking up a scorching hot pan! In light of it being Halloween I thought it would be fun to do something festive that you may choose to make for dinner with your little trick or treaters! These crescent roll mummy dogs are fun and tasty and a little gruesome to boot! Get your kids involved with making these to quell their excitement in anticipation of the evening festivities! Who doesn't love a hot dog wrapped in pastry? I ask you! Super easy to make with just two ingredients and only a few minutes to put together. Just roll out your crescent rolls and don't separate them. I have left mine pinched together two at a time. Run your knife through them long ways to make thin strips to wrap around your hot dogs making the appearance of the mummy's bandages. Then place in the air fryer vessel or on a baking sheet lined with parchment. I have used my Power Air Fryer XL to make mine but you can also make these in the oven. In the air fryer I cooked these at 310 degrees for 8 minutes. I actually think 6 or 7 would have been fine. Super fast! If you don't have an air fryer, these can also be baked in a 350 degree oven for 15 to 18 minutes. You could make up a whole pack of hot dogs in just two rounds. This is a lot of fun for your kids to play with their food and I know from experience that when your kids help to make their food they eat their food! I would pair these with either a bowl of "bloody tomato soup" or a batch of mac and cheesy eyeballs which is your favorite mac and cheese with sliced stuffed green olives mixed in for effect. Making Halloween dinner fun for your kids only lasts a little while. It will only be a few years before they think doing this is lame, so do it while you can and enjoy the times and cherish the memories! I hope you will give them a try! These butter roasted pecans are three ingredients to delicious! I have used a stick of melted butter, one pound of pecan halves and a generous sprinkling of salt. The pecans were tossed with the melted butter and I gave them two generous pinches of salt and tossed that in as well. The nuts were spread on a very clean baking sheet in a single layer and then popped into a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. If you prefer your pecans a bit more toasty, keep them in longer, but keep a watchful eye on them so they don't burn and all your effort is for naught! Take them out, and allow them to cool for a few minutes before tasting for salt and then add more or leave them as is. Allow them to cool completely before transfering to an air tight container. These will store for up to one week on your counter but they won't last that long once your family gets a taste, I promise!
