Pro tip for all you Rocket Heater People out there: If you are going to make your inspection port removeable for um, inspection purposes, don't cob over the latch.

There's a special moment when we get to fire up a heater and see how it runs. https://youtu.be/SlonjCznV58 for the full review.

Here's the part I know I've been waiting for: We started the oven arch with a form made from half of a 50 gallon steel drum, then covered it with wet cob and lit a fire under it. That hardened the sandy clay so that it wouldn't collapse when we put more cob on it. Stay tuned to see how it looks inside after we clean out all the ash. #Shorts

You may remember my Mud Brother Brian from a series of videos I did of his yard and man cave(s) a couple years ago

We're at his new straw bale house that he has mostly built himself from cash out of pocket (no mortgage) with some help from friends and family. We're here today with my electric mixer helping him get the first coat of clay earth plaster on his straw bales before the weather turns bad. While we're here I want to show you some of the artistic and money saving features of Brian's build including bottle windows, local polar timber framing, a rammed earth mass wall for the wood stove and other stuff you just have to see.
Thanks for watching.

The Mud Family has been building and documenting Rocket Heaters since 2004 when Ianto showed us how to build a core out of old bricks and mud in an event tent in the middle of a field. It was crude, but it burned cleanly enough that when the weather turned chilly we were able to button up the sides of the tent with the rocket burning inside and have a warm dinner. The Gamera Rocket Heater is the result of 10 years of development by the folks at https://rocketheatergamera.wordpress.com/ in Bulgaria. We are excited to be working with them on the testing and distribution infrastructure to bring this fine machine to the USA. There's a lot of work to do but this is a first happy step and we wanted to share it with you.
