My third time seeing a Concorde, here's a tour of G-BSST, the British-built prototype at Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton Royal Naval Air Station in the southwest of England. Along with French-built prototype F-WTSS, there are a few differences that set apart these prototypes from production models, including the visor that has two portholes, larger windows, different door layout, no thrust reversers, braking parachute, different engines, and escape hatches for the flight crew. G-BSST was built at Filton in Fairford, England and was first flown on 9 April 1969. It last flew on 4 March 1976 to Yeovilton where it has been on display here since. Along with 4 other pre-production aircraft and 14 production aircraft operated by British Airways and Air France, there were a total of 20 Concordes built and the last flight was in 2003. My previous two times seeing a Concorde were both of British Airways, and I saw G-BOAG at Seattle's Museum of Flight in 2016, and G-BOAD at the Intrepid Air & Space Museum in New York in 2006, though all of my photos of that one was on film and unfortunately I couldn't find it. Also this visit to Fleet Air Arm was a rather stressful one as I had only an hour to visit it, as my train schedule from London Paddington was originally from 10:35 arriving at Yeovil Pen Mill around 14:00. After a series of delays and cancellations (which is typical of Great Western Railway) I left Paddington more than an hour late and after switching to slower trains at Reading and Basingstoke, arrived at Yeovil Pen Mill around 15:30, and the taxi ride wasn't available until 16:15 as I did not know that I had to book it quite far in advance. Although I have been on a British Airways 787-8 before, this is my first time on their 787-9, which besides the longer fuselage, contains a very nice first class cabin which the 787-8 lacks. Here is 1504 on route 21 Gare Fluviale of Réseau de transport de la Capitale, the transit system of Quebec City. This is one of 31 new hybrid buses for 2015 and is part of a collective order of more than 400 hybrid buses for nine Quebec transit agencies ordered by Association du transport urbain du Québec (ATUQ). The Series-E technology enables the engine to stop and start when the bus is stopped or moving slowly, enabling it to run on fully electric mode for short periods of time (also known as stop-and-go). The engine stopping can be heard around 10:49 and restart several seconds later. RTC's new hybrids has several features unique to them and are not seen in other Quebec agencies, such as frameless windows, full air conditioning, and raised front roof. Sorry for the shaking, it's only my second time using the camera and I had no idea that it will shake that much, and the lens is pretty large too. Welcome to my first international flight in over 2 and a half years! On 12 November 2022, I flew from Vancouver to Amsterdam to start my two week solo European vacation, visiting the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Germany. Although I did not film much from this flight, having prioritized memory card space for other footage on my trip, I really enjoyed this flight as the food and service were fantastic, and the economy class on the A330 was comfortable and well designed. This flight is special as PH-AOC was the only remaining A330 in the old livery (the only other aircraft in the old livery was a 737-800). This A330 flight meant it was on one of its last flights in this livery before repainting into the new livery at the end of November 2022. As my first time on KLM, the first impressions was great, that I can definitely recommend if you're planning a trip across the Atlantic. Here's a ride on one of JetSet's new hybrid buses between the terminals at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and the JetSet Parking precinct, located about 600 metres east of the airport. This is their free shuttle service, and has pickup/drop-off points at the domestic, international, and US areas and a few such points inside the parking lot itself. This bus features the BAE HybriDrive HDS200 powertrain, which, not counting operator-specific customizations, are identical to the Nova Bus LFS hybrids of the Quebec transit agencies affiliated with ATUQ, which includes STM Montreal, STL Laval, RTL Longueuil, STO Gatineau, STS Sherbrooke, STTR Trois-Rivières, RTC Quebec, STL Lévis, and STS Saguenay. As such, JetSet is believed to be the only operator of a BAE Nova Bus outside of Quebec. These were purchased early in 2016 to replace a fleet of ElDorado buses. As JetSet only operates one route, there is no need for a stop request bell and stop announcements, so the driver will ask where your car is parked, and on the return trip, which area to be dropped off (domestic, international, or US). The parking lot is shown at 3:27 and the return trip on 173 is shown shortly afterward. Perhaps one of my biggest highlights of my trip to Vancouver this month, here's one of two 2014 Alexander Dennis Enviro500 (New Facelift) demos for TransLink Vancouver, operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company. This is a video of the whole route from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal northbound to Bridgeport Station on the Canada Line. These two double decker demos, the other being 1009, are being trialed on long commuter routes like the 301, 311, 351, 555, and 620, all which serve South of Fraser communities (like Richmond, Delta, Tsawwassen, White Rock, and Surrey). The demo period (December-February) will then be followed by deliveries of 27 units of the same type from 2019, replacing the Orion V therefore providing double the capacity. While the Alexander Dennis Enviro500 is not new for me (I have been on them on GO Transit, OC Transpo, Hong Kong KMB/Long Win/Citybus, Singapore SMRT, and Auckland AT Metro), these are the first double deckers for TransLink Vancouver, therefore it is something new for the region and definitely a big upgrade compared to other buses. 1008 and 1009 are a little different; 1008 has reclining seats, legrests, and reading lights (they are the most comfortable bus seats ever), while 1009 has non-reclining seats with hardwood flooring and has a more interesting history as it has been trialed in Berlin and Santiago de Chile. While Berlin did not buy the Enviro500, PostAuto in St. Gallen, Switzerland has bought 16 three-door Enviro500 which are otherwise very similar to the North American version of the Enviro500, and are the first Enviro500 to operate in continental Europe. Route 620 is unique in Metro Vancouver as it has very few stops and uses the bus lanes on BC 99 often (much like the 95 Orléans on Hwy. 174 in Ottawa on OC Transpo). The one and only thing I don't like about these buses is the wrap outside that covers the windows. The main selling point of a double decker are panoramic views, so it totally makes no sense to cover the windows! Apologies for the rather dirty front window creating dots on the footage. On 22-23 February 2023, I attended the Frayme Learning Institute as part of the Groundbreaker network. Frayme is an organization that partners with service providers to improve access to mental health resources nationwide. In our Learning Institute, we've had a multitude of mental health service providers display in an exhibition format, as well as presenters from them leading workshops, panelist sessions, and keynote speeches from key people who work in the field of mental health. Our theme was Great Big Stories, reflecting that a key part of mental health care is personal storytelling of lived experience and other kinds of experiences. Our 2023 event was held in the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver, the first time that Frayme has ever had an event on the West Coast. Frayme is headquartered in Ottawa as a subsidiary of The Royal, a specialist mental health provider providing treatment to people with complex mental health conditions. The event has a lot of similarity to jack.org's National Jack Summit, the main difference with Frayme being more of an exhibition format and jack.org being more of a hands-on format in delivery. We very much enjoyed the fabulous evening receptions (two different events) on the first two days, as well as the amazing food and meeting new people there. Perhaps one of my favorite highlights of my visit to London this year, here's my first ride on the brand new Class 710 on the Gospel Oak to Barking Line (GOBLIN)! They were really smooth and comfortable and the air conditioning was really good. These trains entered service only a few days back on 23 May, however, this was after multiple delays in deliveries due to software problems found during testing. It was initially planned to enter service around this time last year, then pushed back to November 2018, then to early 2019, and finally approved by the Office of Rail and Road in April 2019 with driver training continuing on. Owing to the late entry into service, the GOBLIN reached crisis point when the Class 172 diesel units were scheduled to be removed from the line due to a non-extendable lease deadline in March 2019 which the trains were transferred to West Midlands Trains. TfL then shortened three Class 378 to four cars to run on the line with a reduced interval from 15 to 30 minutes each train, and with the trains now in service, a regular schedule can be expected somewhere this summer. As an apology, there will be a month of free travel on the line this September. This is the full video of the line westbound from Barking to Gospel Oak, on the 1538 departure as 2G55. Welcome to my first flight on the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner! Here's a bit of a highlight about my amazing experience on the 787-10 with a look at the product, service, and just the overall impressions of everything about the flight! Being a night flight, there isn't much to see outside, but there are some interesting night lights that I saw while on the way! This is also my first leg of the trip from Hong Kong to Auckland, the second leg being Air New Zealand NZ281 which will be coming up next! The 787-10 features a 68.28 m long fuselage which is a stretched version of the 787-9 at 62.81 m while sharing the same max takeoff weight of 254,011 kg and the same 101,444 kg fuel weight. As such, the range is reduced from 14,100 km to 11,900 km which makes it more ideal for short to medium range flights of up to 9 hours. Singapore Airlines configures the 787-10 with 36 business seats and 301 economy seats, missing out on premium economy unlike their other aircraft. It will mainly replace the 777-200 and A330-300.
