Shure SM7dB Review / Test (vs. Dynacaster, Sona, & More)
HQ Audio Of Review: https://podcastage.com/rev/sm7db Video: https://youtu.be/_DIzq4U2CD0 Today I review new Shure SM7dB. Does this improve the noise floor of your recordings? Is it worth the money? Should you buy it? In this review I compare it to the SM7b as well as a bunch of other microphones so you can hear it. Other than that it sounds like an SM7b just with a hotter output, so if that's something that sounds appealing it may work for you, but keep your expecations on low noise recording in check.

Today I review the Rode Complete Studio Kit, which consists of the new USB Interface, the Rode AI-1, and the classic Rode NT-1. This complete studio kit is a great option. The interface has 45dB of clean gain, and a powerful headphone amp.

Today we compare an $1100 microphone to a $20 microphone to see which is the best! The two mics, are the Neewer NW-7000 and the Neumann TLM-103. We likely know what the outcome will be, but it’s fun to hear the difference you get for an additional $1,080. I hope you have fun watching, but mainly listening to these two mics.

Today I review the Beyerdynamic TG V70 Handheld Dynamic Mic. This thing has hyper-cardioid polar pattern, a neutral low-mid section, with a significant high mid, presence, and treble boost, as well as a dangerous amount of proximity effect to play with. I think this may be my new favorite handheld dynamic microphone. If you’re looking for live vocal mic, this thing is killer.

Today I review the Shure PGA48, a budget dynamic mic under $50. This mic offers a very clear sound for a dynamic due to the large boost in presence and treble, which will help your voice stand out in mix. It does a terrible job at handling noise rejection, and it also isn’t the best at plosive rejection. For $34-$39 though, it is an amazing beginner option.

Today I review one of the easiest to listen to condenser mics I’ve ever used, the Shure KSM32. This has an incredibly smooth top end that is soft and non-fatiguing without sounding dark or lifeless. The mic does sound a little undefined on the electric guitar, but the high passes will allow you to clear that right up, and the it’s not very forgiving of the room your in or background noise going on around you. I also include some comparisons to AT2020, NT1, TLM102, OC818, TLM103, and U87 Ai.

Today I review a new USB mic from Audio Techncia, the 2020USB-X. This is an update to the 2020USB+ and it's offering higher conversion 24-bit/96kHz and it adds a new mute button. It comes with a desktop stand as well which the original did not, but it abandons the standard 2020 mount that the original USB+used in lieu of a 1/4" threading on the bottom. It offers a clear sound that leans into the territory of being a bit harsh, and it picks up a bit more room tone and reflections than I'd prefer. However, in a world of decreasing plug and play mics, it offers a pretty decent sound for those who need the limited functionality.
