Lionel Shriver is an American journalist and author living in the UK. Best known for her novel, "We Need to Talk About Kevin," she has also become known for having "unpopular" opinions. Shriver has been critical of identity politics, "victimhood culture," #MeToo, diversity, the notion of "cultural appropriation," and the cultishness of the "radical left." Gender identity ideology and legislation have enormous ramifications for Canadians, and serious consequences for the rights of women and children. However, this is not apparent from mainstream media coverage of the topic. Canadian (and most international) media outlets almost exclusively frame the debate on gender identity ideology and legislation as irrelevant or non-existent, aside from the occasional blowout between progressives and a so-called hateful fringe of women and right-wingers. The truth is not so simple.
#GIDYVR presents Meghan Murphy, Anna Slatz, Jonathan Kay, and moderator Lindsay Shepherd.
Meghan Murphy is a journalist and the founder/editor of Feminist Current. She is currently involved in a legal battle over her permanent suspension from Twitter.
Anna Slatz is a writer at The Post Millennial. She was one of the few Canadians to cover the Jessica Yaniv human rights tribunal scandal, and secured exclusive interviews with young women who allege Yaniv preyed upon them when they were underage.
Jonathan Kay is an editor for Quillette. He has years of experience in Canadian media, including at The National Post, the CBC, and The Walrus.
Lindsay Shepherd is a writer, free speech advocate, and YouTuber.
