Making a Atari Cabaret Part 16 - Jamma harness , PSU , Monitor and Working PCB
This is the last part of the Atari Cabaret build. The PSU, Monitor, Harness and game PCB are all installed and working just fine. I did record the installation of everything, but when I switched the camera to 60fps it formatted the microsd with no option to stop so I lost all the footage.
If you want to help me with any of my projects I setup https://www.paypal.com/paypalme2/leelegionsmith, Any help would be appriciated especially towards the Midi CDJ conversion.
I finished making the dev board and programmed the Teensy 3.6 with my midi software. it's all working in traktor and is super easy to setup by pressing a button and using the learn function in traktor.
I apologise for the out of focus shots, I am still getting used to this nikon DSLR. The sony handy cam is a lot more forgiving.
So on the next episode I will start to work on the cdj 1000 MK3 conversion.

My first computer was the Acorn Electron so I was happy to win this one from ebay in the normal untested state of all the other computers I have worked on. This was by far the worst computer I have looked at and was so very dirty on the outside and corroded on the inside. I was very busy at the time so did not have chance to setup to record the first cleaning of the case and keyboard. It was quite a lot of work, but nothing to special and just taking apart and cleaning. Then we start to clean up the corroded components and clean the PCB. Then clean the rest of the case and test the stability of the system with the ELKSD64. I had a few problems that I am putting down to the cartridge not pushed on correctly so we do some testing via tape after a bit of time to get tapes loading. The rest of the video is then stability testing and final words.

Just like the description says I replace a mains lead on a Technics 1210 mk5 turntable. This is the same for all models before this. I also show a few more examples of when I would want to replace the mains lead or just a plug and what you should check before you try.

Made some progress with my teensy based space invaders. I have the teensy audio shield working with game samples and also connected up a SNES controller instead of using the rubbish buttons I had before. The aliens get progressively faster after clearing each level so gets quite challenging.

I have waited to make this video until I had a good amount of time to work on it. This was in my pile of decks with a damaged silver tube so still needs a lot of work, but I knew it would be an interesting repair as I never saw this reverses spinning before, it's normally the fast forward spin known to be runaway.

I started this after teensy tetris. Everything is drawn with 2x2 rectangle's and characters based on the original arcade game. The game is working so it has lives and a score system. I am working on the overall timing and more animated frames. Next big task is samples using some type of audio shield.

Sorry it has a few errors and strange bits, I had to finish this today as I have repairs for the rest of the week and both decks will be going back to customers very soon.
I wanted to test a customers turntable for audio as he said it was not sounding correct at the high end. My ears are old and one is almost deaf (you can see my Baha implant on the video) so I brought a HiFi test LP with a 20hz - 20khz sweep and recorded it to my Zoom. After my initial test to see if it would work I removed the Van Damme mic/instriment cable and replaced with a original Panasonic part and it restored the audio to what it should be. I then continued to test other RCA leads on a deck that had a RCA place fitted so I didnt need to solder anything and could just swap them over. I fitted new connectors to the Van Damme cable I removed and inluded that in the test.
Now this is a very quick test and I am sure there are other ways to do this, but it shows the Van Damme cable has a differant curve to all of the others I tested.
The only problem I have with this video is I never recorded a good part of any music that showed the differance, I was too busy recording and thinking of how to present this !!!!
