Join me briefly in GTA IV as we join a spontaneous pursuit. This was part of a full LCPDFR episode I made, but decided against posting because I was definitely not at the top of my game.
Another one from back in the day. We couldn't stop the train in GTA San Andreas with a Rhino tank, but can we stop the San Fierro streetcar?
This was recorded from the PS2 version onto a DVD.
Did you know that April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month? To help raise awareness of distracted driving, I'm sharing this video from my car's rear-facing dashcam of a local sheriff's deputy crossing the centerline and appearing to be distracted in some way. This was just one day after an area police chief got arrested for DUI. This one sounded sober over the radio so I think he was just texting. You can also see him touching the centerline several more times and touching the fog line (white line on the edge of the road) at least one more time, before turning around and going a mile or so back to the call he was supposed to have been going to before he decided to follow me.
Here's one from the early days of my Dailymotion channel, before I had a copy of GTA 5. I had been seeing lots of videos of people trying to stop the train in 5 with very creative and entertaining methods, and I wondered if it was possible to stop the train in the classic GTA San Andreas.
So I found an old DVD recorder that still worked, fired up my old PS2, and started trying various things including the Rhino tank. Spoiler alert, I wasn't able to stop the train in GTA San Andreas with a Rhino, but I did get an $83 stunt bonus in one of the tests. Too bad it couldn't have been converted to real-life money.
An oldie but a goodie, a quick 0-60 run in a 1963 Dodge Dart that was once my daily-driver, circa 2012 or so. The body and frame were rough but it had a strong 170 Slant-Six under the hood and the interior was decent except for the gauge cluster. As you can see in the video, I had a cheap aftermarket speedometer because the original had broken, and blue (I'm still kicking myself for it) LED strips for gauge lighting because replacement bulbs were "unobtainium" at the time. I drove that car for several trouble-free years until the frame rotted out and it was no longer roadworthy or safe.
That car is also where my name comes from. My father, for reasons that he doesn't even know, nicknamed it the "Yard Dart." At the time I had a CB radio in my car, so Yard Dart became my CB handle, and later my YouTube name.
I still have it in my barn, and I fire it up and drive it around my yard every now and then for nostalgia. So it's literally a "yard Dart" now. Wait a minute... Maybe my father had a premonition all those years ago?
Join me briefly in GTA 5 as we pursue a Vapid Guardian, in a San Andreas State Police Alamo that loosely resembles a Louisiana State Police unit.
I've lived in Louisiana all my life so I know the lighting setup, siren, and uniform (in this case a vanilla Los Santos County deputy ped) aren't even remotely accurate to what LSP uses. At the time this was recorded (late 2020) I had made a few skins based on real Louisiana agencies for my own personal use and enjoyment, not intending to use them in a publicly available video, so I didn't bother going through the hassle of changing lighting colors and patterns, siren tones, and uniforms.
Unfortunately I don't remember which modpacks the vehicle, siren, and dispatcher voice came from. I was under a lot of stress at that time and was suffering from burnout and depression, so just about everything from that time is foggy at best.
Note: I've recently become aware that some of my videos aren't playing correctly or at all, which I believe is an issue with my video editing software. Though I try to verify that the video is working properly before and after uploading, sometimes a video that plays correctly on my system doesn't for others. If this video doesn't play at all for you, or only has audio but no video, please leave a comment and I will try to fix it.
Just like the title and thumbnail said, I stopped the train in GTA 5. Well, sort of.
The train roaming the map seems to be indestructible and unstoppable, but there are specific circumstances where it actually can be destroyed and therefore stopped. This only applies to scripted trains like in the parachute landing scenario though.
As for the normal train in free-roam, which is what everyone trying to stop the train has focused on, I'm not sure it can be stopped. Despite all of the very creative and entertaining methods that people have tried, the train either just plowed right through unscathed, or the game crashed. But their efforts made for some very entertaining videos though.
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, so here's a dashcam video of a distracted driver here in Louisiana. Just a day after an area police chief got arrested for DUI in 2021, my car's rear-facing dashcam caught a sheriff's deputy crossing the centerline. He sounded sober over the radio so I think he was just texting. After the end of the video I did see him touch the centerline a few more times and touch the fog line (white line at the edge of the road) a couple times.
Have you ever wondered what happens if you hook multiple tow trucks together? Maybe you remember what happened in GTA San Andreas, and wondered if it happens in GTA 5 too.
I myself had loads of fun in GTA:SA years ago with tow trucks and tractors, and spoiler alert, it works the same way in GTA 5 although a little more subdued. I guess one day I'll have to fire up the old PS2 and show what it looked like originally.
If there was ever a video where "I came in like a wrecking ball" would be appropriate, it's this one, but I don't want to stir up any copyright issues.
This is an older video that was made on an older and less capable computer. My current one is still pretty low-spec but produces smoother gameplay with better graphics than the old one. I might make a newer version of this in the near future.
Through a combination of mods and tuning, I built a Bruckell LeGran police car with a supercharged 4.3L diesel V6.
The engine is a mod called LeGran 4.3 Diesel by STEVIE_G4M1NG, available at https://www.beamng.com/resources/legran-4-3-diesel.20341/. It's based on the real-life 4.3L diesel V6 found in mid-80s GM A-body cars. Not to be confused with the infamous 5.7L diesel V8, the V6 was a better design with fewer reliability issues. I've never owned one, but I've heard cars with that engine could return up to 40 MPG.
Some real-life police departments did buy A-body cars for parking enforcement officers, process servers, and other special officers that didn't need the size or performance of a larger car. There's no record of any police department ever using a diesel A-body, but I theorize it would have been a good choice for the aforementioned uses. There was also never a forced-induction (turbocharger or supercharger) option on the real-life engines, but fortunately, a supercharger is an option in the BeamNG parts menu.
It's still not quite fast enough to be a pursuit car, but an officer driving one could have theoretically kept up with an offender until officers in faster cars could catch up and take over.
My less-than-stellar driving is largely due to my controller's worn-out steering stick. I had to set a relatively large deadzone to keep the steering straight. If you've ever played with a worn-out controller, you know. I know they're not very expensive, but I cannot afford a new one at this time.
