August’s full Moon will first appear on the night of Saturday, August 21,
before reaching peak illumination at 8:02 A.M. Eastern Time on Sunday, August 22.
The Full Moon on August 22, 2021 is a seasonal Blue Moon.
It is also this year's Sturgeon Moon.
The Full Moon in August is named after North America's largest fish,
the lake sturgeon.
Lake sturgeons are extremely long-lived.
The males can reach 55 years,
while females can live up to 150 years!
And they can grow to be enormous.
They are the American continent's largest fish and
can grow to over 2 meters long (6 feet) and weigh around 90 kilos (200 pounds).
This footage was filmed at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History
It has free admission and is open 364 days a year.
If you glimpse the new Moon over your right shoulder,
you will have good luck.
Babies born a day after the full Moon enjoy success and endurance
