You have probably all used smart bulbs, multicoloured lights that can be controlled through an app or by voice. Well, this is a floodlight that works in a similar way but is built like a tank and can be used indoors or out. It works well as an indoor feature light or for all weather use in the garden or patio. You can use multiple lights and control them together through the app.
In the attractive and rather upmarket box is just the 22.8 x 15.9 x 6.4 cm IP66 waterproof Floodlight and a well written and detailed user guide. Build quality is first rate and this unit, which weighs in at 810g, is built to last and should be fine for long term use indoors or out.
The light unit resembles a small tablet display unit contained in a robust metal chassis with two adjustable wifi antennas on the top. The heavy duty but rather short mains cable is hard-wired into the unit and has a three pin UK plug on the end. It is a pity there is no power switch as this would come in handy should the wifi connection drop out.
It is simple enough to set up and control using the Lumary app and I think it will also work with the widely used Smart Life app, although this I have not tested. Either app will offer a walk through guide through the bsetup process. Once connected and when the apps have been linked together the device can also be controlled through Amazon Alexa or Google Home.
The light can be used as a conventional high powered light for indoor or outdoor security purposes with a range of dimmable white light between 2700K-6500K available. The lamp really comes into its own when used as a feature light with no less than 16 million colours, colour combinations and patterns available in addition to the 32 preset scenes controllable from the app. The app also offers music control, timer, schedules, and group control of multiple floodlights or other compatible lights. When paired with Alexa or Google the floodlight can be linked to other smart devices to respond to a range of triggered events.
The light looks spectacular and is very versatile and can be used as a party light, outdoor security light or general purpose home lamp as well as integrating fully into the smart home ecosystem.
Priced at £52.99 it is not cheap, but this is a robust and high quality device designed to last for years.
For me, this is an excellent buy.

This new bike light set from VASTFIRE is two separate but complementary products bundled together. The set consists of a multimode forward-facing high power light that can also be used as a torch and Powerbank together, with a dimmable rear-facing red light. The current Amazon price of £25.99 makes this a rather attractive deal.
In the simple but branded box were the two lights, Micro-USB charging cable, USB-C charging cable, handlebar mount, rear mount, carry bag, and a well printed and easy to read user guide.
The front light has an easy to use quick release feature and at 1600 lumens is one of the brightest and best I have encountered. Using it could not be simpler. There is a single large and easy to access button on the top which when pressed scrolls through four power modes and SOS flashing mode. Long press the button to turn the lamp off and on and double press to enter flashing mode. There is a nine-stage battery status LED which also shows when the lamp is in locked mode. On the underside is a grommet protected USB-C port to charge the battery which is claimed to give a run time of up to 13 hours according to the mode selected. An LED illuminates when the device is charging. It also works perfectly well as a torch when removed from the quick-release mount and has a single USB port which allows it to serve as an emergency power bank - at 5200 mAh it should be hefty enough to charge most phones once from flat.
We are not told much about the rear lamp, which has perhaps been added as an afterthought to make up the set. However, it is good and powerful with multiple brightness levels selected by clicking the front of the unit, and it again has a rechargeable battery but this time with a standard USB A connector.
The lights are robust, powerful, and bright and should help to keep you safe on the roads at night. Both lights are IPX 6 waterproof which means it should be fine in the rain for extended periods. Build quality seems fine and the lights are small and neat enough to tuck away in a pocket when not needed. The main lamp doubles both as a torch and emergency power bank, both jobs it does well. I doubt if you will find a better bike light set for this price.

This attractive and well made £39.99 cycling helmet from WONEIRA arrived simply packaged without a branded product box. Although the helmet was perfectly well protected it does make it rather less appealing as a gift. Inside the bag was the helmet itself, a USB charging cable, clip-on sun visor and a small but well-written User guide. I include a copy of the User Guide in my unboxing video.
Build quality of everything seems fine, tough, robust and at just 348g super lightweight. The LED light and battery seem watertight and rainproof but no IP rating is given. I would not expect any problems in normal UK weather. The outer shell is made from Polycarbonate and the inner shell from Expanded Polystyrene with a padded liner that can be removed for cleaning. The helmet is fully adjustable with a quick-release buckle and size regulator and should fit almost every head size between 57 - 72 cm.
The headset is a standard one in many respects and from a distance looks the same as the rest. That is fine by me and in fact and this one is a shade less costly than some rivals I have seen. It has a plastic front visor that is detachable and clips into position and is held in place by four powerful magnets. The visor can be locked out the way above the eyes when not needed and quickly and easily clipped in place when the sun comes out. . It also has a bright red multi-LED warning light on the rear which can be switched turn on/off or switched between a flashing, slow breathing and always on modes using the switch built into the light itself. This is awkward to reach and the rider might need to stop in order to do so. The light is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can be charged from any USB socket with a small cable provided for that purpose.
This is an excellent quality cycling helmet, well made, comfortable and protective with the clip-on sun visor both useful and rather stylish. Although by no means the cheapest helmet I have tried this one does possess a premium feel lacking in the budget rivals.

What we have here is a set of two 40-inch square fire blankets. They are made from heavy duty, weighty, and very strong fire retardant glass fibre material with each blanket housed in an individual bright red easy access storage bag with a hanging hook aperture. Although made from Fibre Glass the blankets are skin friendly and can be handled without issue, although to be on the safe side it would be best to do so no more than necessary.
Fire blankets have several advantages over foam in the kitchen, they leave no additional mess when used, they have a far longer five year shelf life, are easier and simpler to use - no need to read the instructions - they offer heat insulation and can be used for protection when leaving the fire location.
In the event of fire, the large red blanket holder should be easy to locate if wall mounted. Just pull on the two projecting black straps hanging down to extract the blanket and then use it to cover and smother the flames, if the fire is in a pan or container, try and make a seal around the edge. If clothing is on fire, wrap the victim in the blanket tightly to smother the flames. The blanket can also be used as protection when exiting a burning building as it is large enough to fully cover most of the upper body.
The blanket can be easily folded and returned to the storage bag after an incident or false alarm if the blanket is not badly marked. Of course, if it is scorched or damaged then a replacement should be obtained.
Priced at just $19 for two, this seems to me a no-brainer to add at least one to your kitchen, garage or anywhere that fire may break out.

The GNCC P1 Indoor Security Camera is a camera designed to watch over pets, babies or for general home security with 1080p video, motion detection and two-way audio using the newly developed OSAIO smartphone app. I must say that this little camera offers far more features than I was expecting for the remarkable £19.99 price.
Inside the nicely designed and attractive product box was the camera itself, rotary mount, screw kit for the mount, USB power adapter with UK plug. No micro SD card is included.
It has a rather nice matt white finish and is made from fairly lightweight plastic but nevertheless, the build quality seems good. On the front are the lens with Night Vision Infrared LEDs and coloured LEDs to show Wifi and network status and the microphone aperture. On the rear is the speaker port, reset button, and hard-wired power cable. The camera looks like an old-style PTZ camera but in fact, the lens only rotates side to side through the app, to move up down or to access the SD card slot the lens must be manually adjusted.
The first thing to do is to download and install the OSAIO app for Android or iOS, I tested using the Android app. You have to register the app for use but doing so is free and a disposable email address can be used. Take note that Victure camera users can use their old login/password with this app and their cameras will be recognised by the app.
All the setup and configuration of the many features of the camera is done through the app and this is one of the best I have used, easy to navigate and sensibly laid out. A wide range of options are available including multi-schedule monitoring, motion detection, in-app alerts etc. Even high ends features such as zones, motion tracking and 24/7 recording are possible. It will also send real-time push alerts to the phone app.
You can control the panning feature of the camera in real-time by just dragging the finger across the app screen to move the camera from side to side. Remember, this is not a true PTZ camera and so the lens cannot be remotely moved up and down.
Recordings can be made either through Motion or audio detection or manually through the app. The recordings can be viewed within the app, from video files saved to an SD card or from cloud storage. Cloud storage offers several subscription models and is not expensive. Unlike with some rivals, the camera performs perfectly well using just the SD card and functionality is not hobbled in any way. If the option is selected you can even have 24/7 automatic recording to the SD working as like a dashcam continuously recording short video files and recording over the oldest video when the card is full. If you use an SD card (none is provided) make sure you use a fast Class 10 card – the card must be able to cope with the high-speed data stream from the camera otherwise the results will be jittery and poor.
This model has 1080P image quality and is clearly not just upscaled 720p as on some lesser rivals. Video and audio quality are first rate with audio quality not being overlooked as so often happens with security cameras, Sound from the built-in speaker is a bit thin, as to be expected and it is a pity there is no audio out port to get around this. It supports two-way audio which means it could serve well as a Baby Monitor or home intercom.
This is a high-quality security camera capable of excellent results. The smartphone app is one of the best I have used for this purpose and is a major plus for the camera. The price is brilliant for the features on offer and puts to shame many high rivals at several times the price of this one.

Priced at a shade under £75 this is definitely on the expensive side for a Blood Pressure monitor, when perfectly good medical-grade devices can be found for around £25. So what does this new high tech rival have to offer?
In the attractive and cleverly designed box, robust enough and well suited to store the device in, was the blood pressure monitor itself, a prefitted battery set, a Quick Start Guide, and a User Manual. Build quality seems fine straight from the box but I have a few long term doubts, of which more later. The two guides are well written, informative and nicely printed albeit in a hard to read light grey on white.
This device consists of a combined cuff and battery back with just a single status LED to let you know what is going on. The Qardio Android/iOs app on your Bluetooth connected smartphone controls the reading, displays the results and does all the clever stuff. To fit the four AA batteries, pull the cuff away slightly on one end of the battery box to reveal the hidden latch.
To use it simply switch on the cuff by unfolding it, the small LED on the end will light up and the large START button on the front page of the Qardio app will turn from grey to green. Fit the cuff in the usual way to the upper arm which needs to be done so with the box on the inside of the arm with the logo at the bottom of the box pointing down. The weight of the battery box can make this a bit tricky but it gets easier over time. I am concerned that over time the cuff may come loose from the battery box when pulling the cuff open so be sure to do so by taking hold of the label on the cuff with one hand and with the other holding the cuff secure to the battery box with the other. Press the green START button on the app to begin the reading.
The app does more than just take the reading. The readings are all stored in memory and can be exported to Google Fit or emailed directly to your physician or elsewhere in the form of a .csv data file. The device can also be used in Guest mode for one-time use without the data being stored.
The app can display a history of the readings either as a simple list or as a graph and the same for the recorded heart rate. A calendar can show on which days readings were taken and where they were taken.
One nice feature is that the app can be set to take up to three readings in sequence with a programmable delay between each with an average of them displayed at the end. This certainly gives a better and more reliable result.
I have no problems with the accuracy of the unit. I have tested it against several medically approved conventional BP models and the results are broadly consistent. The app is well designed, easy to use and the average reading feature is a real boon.
Things I don't like. Data export is limited, it exports to Google Fit but not to other apps or ecosystems and although it is possible to export a .csv file by email a simple data file cannot be exported or printed. I worry that the cuff may come apart from the battery box with use and some users have reported the rather lightweight battery compartment lid can come free also.
If you, like me, enjoy new gadgets and are happy to pay three times the price of a standard unit to achieve the same results through new tech then this may be for you. If you just need a BP monitor then there are plenty of cheaper alternatives.

This is two devices in one., A powerful personal blender with an additional grinder unit together with two 17 Oz and one 10 oz containers with lids.
The Blender arrived well packaged in a large and attractive box inside of which was the Motor Base, Cross Blade Blender, Flat Blade Grinder, x2 17 Oz Tall Cups, 10 Oz Cup, Solid lid, Shaker lid, x2 Spout Lids, Cleaning Brush and a User Guide The User Guide is large, well printed and easy to read and I enclose a scan of it in my unboxing video. All the cups and accessories are plastic with blades and related mechanisms of stainless steel.
The blender base is large and hefty but quite attractively designed. It has a brushed steel finish and one large and easy to find control button on the front with below two LEDs, one to show the power is on and the other to confirm the operation. This a primarily a smoothy blender and so does not need or possess speed controls or a pulse button. Just hold the button to operate
For a personal blender, it is quite large and I was expecting it to be very noisy but in fact, it was not. Surprising too was the fact that it did not move around too much when in use due to the silicone suction caps built into the base.
To operate it just add the required ingredients to the selected container and screw in place either the blender or grinding unit and then press that unit in place onto the motor base aligning it with the lugs on the underside. Then press the power button and hold the container firmly in place on the motor. The container can also serve as a serving or travel mug when the appropriate leak-resistant lid is screwed in place
I was surprised at the power of the device, as my video shows ice cubes turning into snow in just a few seconds. It seems it will blend virtually anything put into it. It will be fine for smoothies, ice crushing, and drinks, and with a capacity of 400g for the blender and 100g for the grinder a generous serving can be made. I plan to use it to make nut butters and am confident it will be able to cope with the task.
This is a simple, powerful blender and smoothy maker with the focus being given to performance and ease of use. Although larger and more powerful rivals are available nevertheless it should be able to perform pretty most tasks thrown at it. It would be perfect for a small kitchen, a person living alone, or for drinks making.The inclusion of an extra travel mug is a nice bonus and reinforces the drink making focus of the device. The current Amazon price of 69.99 before discounts is very attractive and far less than that of the Big Name rivals.

This is a lightweight dual mode, twin camera dashcam that can give full 4K resolution in front camera mode and 2160p front and 1080p rear at 30 frames per second when in dual camera mode. That's not all it does, you can connect to the camera over wifi to configure and control it and to download video and photos.
Packaged in a large and rather upmarket product box aside from the front camera there is also the small rear camera and hardwired 19ft cable, power adaptor with 9ft cable, spudger tool, 2 electrostatic mounting stickers and User Guide. The User Guide, unlike most, was very well printed, easy to read and informative. A nice bonus is the inclusion of a prefitted 32GB TF memory card.
Most dashcams are single camera units but this system is supplied with a second small camera that is attached by cable to the front camera and can be positioned in the back window to continuously record activity behind the car in addition to the video recorded by the main camera. The rear camera is connected by a lengthy cable to a socket on the main camera. The front camera has a 170-degree angle of view according to the User Guide, the rear camera has a 140-degree lens. Both cameras give a clear, detailed and sharp image at 30 frames per second.
Fixing the camera to the mirror on my Toyota Aygo was easy enough and the cables were easily long enough for both cameras. Fitting the second camera was more of a chore as the cable has to be wound through the car from front to back but once it is done there should be no need to adjust it again. The rear camera is optional as the main camera will work perfectly well without it. I prefer to use just the front camera to get full advantage of the 4K video.
The dashcam is controlled and configured using the JarvisCam app connected to a Wifi hotspot generated by the camera. You can select to operate in various modes: front camera only at 4K'@30fps, front and rear both at 1080p@30fps, or front cam 2160p@30fp and rear cam also at 1080p@30fps. Various other options can be set including the microphone, loop recording time, etc. Recordings can also be selected, viewed on the app or downloaded. Neither camera has a built in screen and so all configuration must be done through the app but after this the camera can operate independently.
I found the image quality to be excellent although in low light conditions, the image quality dropped somewhat. Image quality is crucial for dashcams as it is important to be able to clearly identify number plates and other details in a recorded incident. The camera has the all-important G-Sensor which autosaves and protects video files in which it detects a sudden stop or impact.
Don’t complain about the lack of GPS because although it can be fun at first to trace your route on the screen map remember that in the event of an incident, the police may review all the files on the card and use previous driving speeding errors detected by the GPS against you. The camera does have a microphone which can be useful in the event of an incident if you are quick-witted enough to read aloud the numbers of the cars involved. It has two parking modes but I have never found parking mode to be much use in any camera due to the delay in awakening the camera following triggering. Also, to allow parking mode to work when the ignition is off additional wiring will be n The only worthwhile feature lacking for me is that of a second dual write TF card, handy so you always have a copy of the card handed to the police.
This is an excellent dashcam, versatile and easy to use that is capable of giving excellent results for a very reasonable price.

The new model has the often used rounded design, a projection area of up to 50 Sq Metres, along with a full range of front panel controls as well as a dedicated remote, and an enhanced range of visual displays and patterns.
In the box are the projector itself, USB power cable, remote control, and a large and easy to read user guide. Build quality seems fine and the 420g 120 x 108 x 105 mm projector, seems well made and robust and quite a lot smaller in size than older models. The remote control is medium sized with an unusual curved design. All the key functions can be controlled directly from the unit itself where a full range of button controls are included, but it is easier and simpler to use the supplied remote control. Most devices features a green laser to produce stars but this one uses a red laser also to produce a spiral nebulae type effect.
This device is not just a star projector it is also an excellent Bluetooth speaker, with a choice of Bluetooth or TF Card inputs, full track and audio controls on both the device and remote.
The unit is powered through the USBinput and requires a 5v/2A input. Be sure to use a standard USB power source and avoid high power chargers as they may not work with this unit.
Setting it up for Bluetooth could not be easier, just look for the Bluetooth device 'DQ-M2' on your phone. The projector’s excellent internal speaker can play music from any Bluetooth source as well as from any TF card inserted into the port on the unit. With music mode the unit will also vary the pattern in sync with sounds detected by the built in microphone.
The main selling point, however, is the light display itself and this really is remarkable. Basically, it consists of red, blue, green, and white shimmering wave-like patterns with green laser stars on top. Unique to this device is the red laser spiral nebulae effect which can be separately be switched on and off. The wave colours can be combined and the intensity and duration of the stars also controlled through the remote. There are 15 LED colours available and 27 lighting options. There are four basic modes: Sleep, Auto, Sound, and Flash. In Sound Mode the light patterns will change in time with the music. The device will turn off automatically in sleep mode and also has a user-definable timer that can be set from the remote. The rotation speed of the LED cloud patterns can be varied as can the overall brightness level. Hours can be spent finding the best effects combination. Of course, it looks best, at night but is perfectly bright enough for use in curtains drawn daylight room.
This is an excellent device, fascinating and enjoyable to use, well made and well priced and perfect for the bedroom, nursery or anywhere that needs atmospheric lighting.

This set of two walkie-talkie style handheld radio communicators will answer the needs of a great many users as they are simple and easy to use but fully waterproof and built to withstand rigorous use. They are designed to conform to the American Family Radio Service (FRS) standard and use channelized frequencies around 462 and 467 MHz in the ultra high frequency (UHF) band. No licence is required either in the USA or UK to use them.
In the box are the two handsets with a set of rechargeable batteries, a plastic belt clip and a hands-free kit for each. Also included is a twin mount charging stand, micro-USB charging cable and a rather poorly printed and hard to read but informative user guide. Although made from plastic, build quality is extremely robust and the handsets are rated as being IP67 waterproof which means they can be immersed in water up to 1m deep for short periods. Indeed if a handset does fall into the water then it will float and automatically illuminate its' emergency light.
On the front of each handset is a large backlit LCD showing the current operating status of the radio. Below the screen is a set of proper clicky buttons for Power On/Off/Cal, Menu/Lock, Lamp/Weather Alert, Frequency Monitor/Scanning, Up, Down. Below this is the large speaker grill and microphone panel. On one side of the radio is the large Play To Talk (PTT) button and an emergency alert button. On the other side is a grommet protected bay giving access to the micro-USB and hands free ports. On the top is the large fixed antenna which is is only slightly felxible, on the base two large bright white LEDs, one for the built in flashlight and the other for the emergency light.
The handsets come with rechargeable batteries, a set of three AA 1200mAH NiMH for each handset and these can be replaced when needed. Charging can be done from any USB A port either directly to the micro-USB port on each handset or to the twin handset charging base. for added flexibility the handsets will also work with standard AA batteries.
The handsets have been designed for simple operation and ease of use and here is does differ from more expensive units designed for professional or more experienced users. To operate, tun on by long pressing the power button, the handset will beep and the initial screen will show the current channel and privacy code. To change channel press the menu button once and then the Up/Down keys to select a new one. Hit the PTT key to exit. Take note that channels 1-3 are use 0.5w power and are designed for nearby use and the others a more battery hungry 2w but designed for long range. The privacy code, which can also be changed, is simply designed to give a clearer signal it does not encrypt or make secret your transmissions, which can be monitored by anyone with a suitablke receiver. Each handset can scan for signals on both the active and one other channel alternately. The handsets can also be set to VOX mode for voice activated use.
Audio quality is clear and easy to hear and is loud even at the lowest setting. There are confimation and Roger beeps, again rather loud, but these can be disabled from the on screen menu. What cannot be changed is the screen time out period which is very short.
The phone comes with some other useful safety features including a bbuilt in flashlight, emergency light that shows SOS in morse, and a 11 band weather alert system for the USA only NOAA network.
Is it perfect? No, the belt buckle is not so robust as I would like, the screen time-out is too short and cannot be changed, the speaker even at the llowest setting is too loud for discreet use, and a rotary dial would allow for finer tuning for frequency and volume. These are all incidental issues and do not detract from the key features of this set.
If you need a walkie talkie set robust enough for extended rough terrain use, simple enough for quick and easy access and at a bargain price of around $75 then this might be for you.
