So in the summer time we get flies in the quail poop bins, they of course create maggots who eat the poop and then when taht gets dumped in the compost, the chickens can eat them!
Status update, after moving one of the racks down and converting it to run in a Kratk style setup on the bottom as the next batch of starts come in on the top.
Quick update before I make some interesting changes to the setup trying to make the lettuce last and get the next batch coming in, while first is going out.
Just checkign in with the now two layered hydro lettuce system after two weeks. Seems to work well with a couple of considerations.
BTW, here's the system I bought. Amazon has it on sale right now for the same price I bought a 'used' / returned one when I bought it: https://amzn.to/3IXCCzg
Blanched and canned our tomatoes, and decided to try dehydrating the skins. Took just a few hours (if that, I set it for 5 at 200° and they were well dried by the time I got back to it), and I was kind of astonished how readily they came of the trays. I expected they would crumble byt they came off cleanly and intact for the most part.
