In this video, I discuss the fraying of the petrodollar system, in which the Saudis and other producers sell their crude oil for US dollars, and then recycle those dollars back into US stocks and US government bonds (Treasuries).
Even though oil prices have doubled over the past 12 months, Saudi holdings of US Treasuries have decreased. China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan have reduced their holdings as well.
The US dollar-based global financial system is breaking down. In the absence of strong international and domestic buyers of government bonds, the Fed will need to continue to step in with freshly printed money as the buyer of last resort.
This suggests that inflation and dollar devaluation will be anything but transitory.

In this video, I discuss my hypothesis that the US government may actually want to encourage much, much higher Bitcoin prices as a way of fighting the new Chinese CBDC (central bank digital currency).
The US may be encouraging the move to a Bitcoin standard system, in a way that was similar to the petrodollar system that evolved after the US moved off the gold standard in 1971. Crude oil was allowed to appreciate sharply, so that its market cap could accommodate global trade in USD. The US military agreed to keep shipping channels open and protect Saudi Arabia, in exchange for the Saudis selling their oil exclusively in USD.
Those who believe that the US government wants to ban Bitcoin may have it exactly backwards. Through Wall Street and regulatory approval of Bitcoin, the US may be tacitly allowing Bitcoin to become the new global reserve asset, as a geopolitical move against China.
If Bitcoin rises to the level of the US M2 money supply, it implies Bitcoin prices close to $1 million.

In this video, I discuss whether or not Bitcoin is correlated with the U.S. stock market.
If you look at returns, Bitcoin and the stock market are only loosely correlated. But because Bitcoin and the stock market (as measured by the S&P 500) are cointegrated, one must instead look at price correlation between the price of Bitcoin and the price of the S&P 500. Following Plan B's analysis, I conclude that Bitcoin and the stock market are indeed both cointegrated and correlated, with a very high R-squared of 95%.
This makes sense, since both the stock market and Bitcoin are increasingly driven by Fed money printing, quantitative easing, and the debasement of the US dollar. The more the Fed prints, the higher both the stock market and Bitcoin should go.
According to Plan B's regression equation, Bitcoin can be viewed as a levered version (416x) of the S&P 500, with only 100% downside. Thus a very small allocation to Bitcoin should be able to give an investor equivalent exposure to a stock index fund.
The Fed's balance sheet, the US stock market, and Bitcoin should continue to rally as the Fed continues to sterilize the US current budget deficit, as well as massive future entitlement spending.

In this video, I discuss the CPI inflation number coming in higher than expected, as well as the Ethereum Merge-- and what both mean for Bitcoin's short-term price action.
With the CPI coming in hot, two-year yields charged higher, while the 2s10s spread inverted more deeply. Risk assets sold off sharply yesterday.
The 2s10s yield curve inversion shows that the Fed is already too tight vs. the economy, and close to the end of its hiking cycle. In spite of this, there is already a 100% probability of a Fed hike of 75 bps or more at the September meeting being priced in.
I still believe that the bottom is in for stocks and Bitcoin. Government economic data is notoriously noisy and volatile-- especially inflation data. Fed has already hiked us into a recession, and that has been priced into the market with risk assets down and 2s10s inverted. Economic numbers will continue to worsen from this point on and CPI inflation will continue to come down YoY.
If something goes catastrophically wrong with the ETH Merge (which is unlikely), Bitcoin could certainly tank tonight, but I think it is a low probability and that a recovery will be rapid.
