Beechcraft Duchess BE76 | X-Plane 11 VFR Flight Sim from KUMP to KCAK - Episode 5
G'day Fellow Pilots,
This is the fifth of a series of X-Plane 11 Flight Sim videos. I was planning on doing these videos in real life instead of on the flight sim. Based on current circumstances, X-Plane 11 is my best option for the moment.
Welcome to the 5th episode of the web series; Building Time - In Search of the Great $100 Hamburger. I will be doing a series of flights from Indianapolis Metro (KUMP) to various airports with restaurants on the field located throughout the Midwest and the Eastcoast in search of the great $100 hamburger. In this episode, we fly from Indianapolis Metro to Akron-Canton Regional, Ohio. Today we take the Beechcraft Duchess (BE76) instead of the Cessna 172S, so we could get there quicker and I miss flying the Duchess in real life.
The original plan was to create 10 episodes (10 mins each) in the Cessna 172S with a good friend of mine, MacKenzie, flying with me in the right seat. The main purpose was to build my flight time to qualify for the US ATP (1,500 hours). At the same time, expose MacKenzie to flying from the right hand seat so she could gain enough confidence to eventually go for her US Single Private and Single Commercial Pilots License. I am not a flight instructor, so MacKenzie would not have been able to log any flight time. However, she would have been exposed to hands on flying, various flight procedures, CTAF and ATC radio comms, Flight Planning, Navigating, Weather Briefing, Command Decision making, etc.
I was in the process of finishing up pre-production and we did a couple of test flights together with video footage when my hours at work were heavily reduced. My work hours as an Aircraft Fueler at Indianapolis International (KIND) were heavily reduced due to the Part 121 airline flight operation cutbacks. Resulting in postponing the original web series plans. Once the cash flow is back, the flights with MacKenzie will continue. I am really looking forward to that.
I hope you enjoy this video. This one is the longest one so far, but the original flight was a little over 1 hour and 30 mins. I managed to trim a lot of unnecessary footage out of this video. The following episodes will be to destinations a little closer to the departure point.

G'day Fellow Pilots,
For this video, I flipped through a Cessna 152 Flight Manual to pick out key bits of information for pilots. This is the type of basic information pilots need to be aware of when flying the Cessna 152, the performance and limitations of the aircraft and some recommendations.
Keep in mind, I am not a flight instructor, this video only covers some of the information you need to be aware of as a Cessna 152 pilot.
I have not covered any topics dealing with emergency procedures for the Cessna 152. I have not covered emergency procedures in this video as it's difficult to realistically simulate inflight emergencies with X-Plane 11. This is why I do not simulate any inflight emergency procedures. Based on my experience, I do believe the inflight emergencies are best practiced in the actual aircraft with a flight instructor.

This is an updated video flying the BE76 Beechcraft Duchess into Moorabbin Airport (YMMB) following the NDB-A Approach. The update is flying the approach with wind correction. The video includes two holding patterns over the NDB, followed by the outbound and inbound tracks. A post flight analysis showing the actual flight paths from start to finish. You will see the effect wind has on flying holding patterns.
If you are flying a NDB Approach and you also have GPS onboard, you can fully utilize the GPS to determine the actual Wind Direction. (This is a new technique I developed on my own, it has never been taught to me by anyone else.) Also, based on your required wind correction angle for your TAS, you can accurately estimate the wind strength.
You will need to calculate the wind correction angle for your flight, based on your Wind Direction, Speed and TAS. Play with the computer to see the relationship between TAS, Wind Direction and Speed. See what it does to your required Wind Correction Angle. G'day Fellow Pilots,
This video is a recreation of an actual Air Crash Investigation involving a Cessna 152.
On April 19, 2020, 10:40am, a Cessna 152 was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Corona, California. The private pilot and passenger were seriously injured.
The passenger reported that he was managing ForeFlight on his iPad while the pilot was flying the airplane. The pilot started and taxied uneventfully; a runup was conducted and no anomalies were noted. The pilot departed and completed one circuit in the pattern and a touch and go.
Shortly after, while turning onto the crosswind leg of the traffic pattern, the pilot stated, "oh we are going down". The passenger looked up confused and within about 10 seconds they impacted something and came to rest upside down on a roadway.
Due to noise cancelling headphones, he did not hear the engine quit, nor did he hear it make any abnormal noise.
The airplane has been recovered to a secure location for further examination. This investigation continues..
