Presidential UFO Sighting: Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, reported a UFO sighting in 1969 while he was still the Governor of Georgia. According to Carter, he and a group of about 10 people were waiting outside Leary, Georgia, to start a meeting when they saw a bright, white light in the sky. Carter described the object as being white and very bright, and said that it changed colors to blue and then red before disappearing. He also said it appeared to be about the size of the moon and was hovering for about 10 minutes before it disappeared.
