How to Easily Install Arch Linux with the Official Guided Arch Linux Installation Script
In this video I cover how to install Arch Linux using the official guided Arch Linux installation script.

When it comes to Arch Linux, normally you would have to follow the steps on the Arch wiki, however with the inclusion of this script, installation is much more straightforward.
Although I will say that if you have never used Linux before, unless you want a huge learning curve, then install a distribution such as Ubuntu until you at least have the basics covered.

But the general idea is that you burn the Arch Linux ISO to bootable media, boot from it and launch the script using the archinstall command through the tty1 interface.
From here, you will be asked a series of questions, so provide the answers which are relevant to your system.
Once the process is completed, then remove your installation media and reboot the system to boot into your new installation of Arch Linux.

This video covers installing and running Fallout 76 on Linux using Steam Proton, as well as a fix for the missing audio, and a fix to the crash on character creation.
Fallout 76 was originally an exclusive to Bethesda Launcher, but as of 14th April 2020, it is now available on Steam, so for that reason I do not recommend using Lutris to install and run Fallout 76 anymore.
INSTALLATION
Installing the game is simple enough, just enable Proton for your entire library and then download and install the game.
MISSING AUDIO FIX
You will find that the game successfully launches, but with no audio, but this can be easily fixed by using the latest version of GloriousEggroll's Proton GE build.

After creating a new character, the game will crash after taking the photo, so to resolve this, add the following to the game's launch options:

REMAINING BUGS - THE ATOM SHOP DOES NOT WORK
PERFORMANCE
In terms of performance, I can run the game at 1080p 60FPS the majority of the time, although the game does dip into mid 40s and 50s from time to time, and I suspect this is either down to the game downloading something in the background or just the nature of being an always online game.

This video covers a method of fixing stuttering when playing games such as Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Dragon Age Inquisition and other games that use the EA Origin client on Linux.
STUTTERING CAUSE
By default EA Origin will periodically write information to files in the Origin folder which causes stuttering in game but this can be easily fixed.
FIX - APPLY READ ONLY PERMISSIONS TO THE ORIGIN FOLDER
For example, for my installation of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, the Origin folder is located at:
/home/ryanj/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1172380/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/
So in the Application Data folder, open up a Terminal and type the following command:
sudo chmod -R 555 Origin
This command will change the permissions of this folder to read only and now Origin will be prevented from writing to that folder, and thus stop the stuttering.
This method should work for all games that use the EA Origin client.
If you need to revert permissions running:
sudo chmod -R 777 Origin
Will give back write permissions again.

This video covers enabling the --notexturestreaming argument in the Borderlands 3 game's launch options in order to fix stuttering on Linux and Windows.
If you load a game or transition to a new area in Borderlands 3 whilst playing on Linux through Wine or directly on Windows there will be a 10 seconds period in which the game will load the textures in and the framerate will be erratic.
However this can be resolved by adding the following to the game’s launch option:
-notexturestreaming
This forces the game to load all textures when transitioning to an area or loading a save, instead of on the fly, but this does mean that overall loading times will be increased.
Please be aware that you want to be hitting the recommended requirements for this game for this to work.
For reference this footage was recorded using the Badass graphic settings, a resolution of 1080p, and a framerate capped at 60FPS.

In the video I cover how to record, capture and edit game footage on Linux using OBS Studio and Kdenlive.

OBS Studio can be usually installed from your distribution's repository, but if you want a version that comes pre-complied with video encoder libraries such as NVENC and VA-API, then I recommend using the Snap version.
The interface of OBS Studio can seem overwhelming at first, but the main sections you will be concerned with are Sources, Audio Mixer, and Controls.
When it comes to recording game footage, I recommend using Window Capture option over Screen Capture as the latter will incur a performance hit, as you will be technically recording the entire screen as well as the active window.
If you want, you can use a Noise Gate with your microphone to cut down the key presses on your keyboard and button noise when you are using a controller.

You can usually install Kdenlive from your distribution’s repository using a package manager, or alternatively use a Flatpak, Snap or Appimage.
The interface of Kdenlive may seem intimidating at first, but it becomes quite logical once you get used to it.
The basic workflow goes like this; you create a new project, drop a video or video files into the project bin found at the top left, wait for them to process, and then drag them into the timeline at the bottom.
From there you can select parts of the track you wish to edit, adjust the volume using the mixer, or add effects found under Timeline / Effects, and once you are happy with the final project, you can begin rendering.
Kdenlive has a list of rendering profiles based on the file size, codec format, quality and resolution.
Just a couple of things to note about uploading videos to YouTube, unless you upload the video at a resolution of 1440p or higher your video will be encoded with a lower quality codec called AVC which is fine for tutorial content but for anything that has quick motion scenes such as video game will look terrible.
Instead, if you upload at 1440p or higher you will get the VP09 codec which does not suffer the same quality issues.
So, to upscale a video, click on the More options tab, tick the Rescale section, specify the resolution, specify the output location, a file name, and then click the Render to File button.
