I think I've shown this before but if you want to grow lemons, limes, or other citrus in colder climates you have to become the bee to pollinate them. Sometimes i use a paper towel to collect the pollen, other times i use q-tips. Either way, the steps are the same. As the flowers open to expose the pollen on the male flowers, you collect that and apply it to the female flowers stigma. Then a few weeks or months later, boom babies running around everywhere you have to feed and look after ... oh wait, wrong story :) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Swx6W6XkI_s
Recently a video on my channel was removed for violating community standards, cruelty against animals. In that video, I was killing a tick. The video was tagged with #hpv as it was part of my cancer series and how all the bugs outdoors seem to think I am a smorgasbord, an all you can eat buffet. I have found more than 40 ticks on me this year, post cancer treatment where most years are usually 0 ticks. I think its good information for cancer patients who underwent chemo and radiation to know, but the be all end all youtube says otherwise. They removed the video, I appealed the decision, and lost the appeal. Yet, just doing a youtube search on "killing ticks" pulls up thousands of other videos of people killing ticks. So why the double standard youtube? Do you have something against cancer patients? If you are going to remove one tick killing video, you should remove them all.

Kentucky is off to another roll coaster weather year it seems. We keep switching from a week of nice 70 degree weather to a week of highs in the 40's to another week in the 60's. The last warm week we had when I did an inspection I knew this hive was going to explode in growth over the next 2-3 weeks just due to all the capped brood it had. Then we got a week of weather rainy and in the 40's. As soon as that cleared up I looked at the weather and its another week in the 60's with several days near 70. I don't generally like to add honey supers this early but I know if I don't, I am going to be wishing I did so here we are ....... an apiary update on the homestead in mid-april.

In this video I show you a single trick that accomplishes multiple things. First, it causes your seeds to germinate or sprout faster and second it causes your germination rate to go up. If you have ever planted 50 seeds and only 30 sprouted, this may be why. Doing it my way, I bet you get closer to 100% germination rates.

I was just in my safe about 2 days ago. Went to get in it tonight and the keypad was dead. That's not too uncommon, i have to replace the battery about every 2-3 years but i just replaced it last year .... i think. However, when i went to replace the battery, i noticed a lot of corrosion and then when i removed the battery i noticed part of it had broken off. So this video is how i removed that broken piece to fix the problem.

I upgraded from the smaller sun joe tiller I bought last year to the sun joe tj604e and in this video I do the unboxing, and usage .... in loomy raised garden beds, medium clay soil, and heavy clay soil. I wanted the wider width and more amps to expand my garden into some heavy clay soil areas .... It seems it is going to work just as well as the smaller one only take even less time.

Not everybody likes muscadine seeds in their jelly even though there are a ton of healthy and medicinal reasons to eat them whole (skin, seeds, pulp). Muscadine have six times the resveratrol of regular grapes. Resveratrol in the recent years have been the center of attention for all medical researchers. Resveratrol is a very potent antioxidant found in the grape.
So in this video i share with you how I remove the skin by squeezing out the pulp and separating the seeds, then toss it on the stove with sugar heated to a rolling boil before water bath canning for 10 minutes. It's the same as my other muscadine grape jelly video sans the 4 hours standing there squeezing each grape one at a time .... using my strong hand. I usually only do this for 1 small 4-5 pint batch out of the 12 or so pints I make every year because its just sooooo much work and its not that hard to simply flick the seeds off a slice of bread using the end of a butter knife if you don't like the seeds.
All of the muscadine grape (skin, seeds, pulp) have individual natural medicinal properties. So that youtube can't demonitize this video, here are the publications for you to read up on yourself:

I previously said in a video when I did this split that this queen was amazing, and she still proves me right. When I did the split, I took the queen and 4 frames of resources plus a blank frame about 20 days ago and put them in a new hive. That hive has exploded in population and they are already drawing out comb on the honey supers. Since they started to draw comb on the honey supers, I figured the single deep box was getting closer to 70% full and it would be time to put a second deep on, but its going to be a few more days. After checking out this hive, I then move to the hive she came from and also looked at its honey super. That hive is probably the strongest hive I have right now and its almost time to start looking to make sure the supercedure queen is laying eggs.
