Can We Live with No Bosses? (A conversation with Michael Albert)
In this video Douglas Lain talks to Michael Albert about his book No Bosses. The book advocates for the conception and then organization of a new economy. The vision offered is called participatory economics. It elevates self-management, equity, solidarity, diversity, and sustainability. It eliminates elitist, arrogant, dismissive, authoritarian, exploitation, competition, and homogenization.
The modern world is at an impasse. Disasters scroll across our smartphone screens and we’re invited to like, follow or upvote, but critical thinking is harder and harder to find. Rather than connecting us in common struggle and debate, the internet has sped up and deepened a long-standing process of alienation and atomization.
You may have heard that JHP, the company that owns Zer0 Books, was recently sold to Watkins Books. This will return Zer0 to the crew that originally founded it. They are undoubtedly glad for this. Myself, I'll miss the job but wish them well. I'm proud of the authors we published and will do my best to make sure the books that have just come out or that are coming out soon will get the attention they deserve.
The podcasts and videos will continue under a new brand and in a slightly different style. And I hope to be publishing books again soon.

Guy Mankowski interviews Elizabeth Bernholz (aka Gazelle Twin) about how to be a Pop Star.
Bernholz is an electronic music composer, producer and musician whose albums include The Entire City and Deep England. Her stage name is Gazelle Twin.
Guy's book "Albion's Secret History" compiles snapshots of English pop culture's rebels and outsiders, from Evelyn Waugh to PJ Harvey via The Long Blondes and The Libertines. By focusing on cultural figures who served to define England, Guy Mankowski looks at those who have really shaped Albion's secret history, not just its oft-quoted official cultural history.

Ben Burgis responds to objections from a fan of Austrian Economics named Gene Epstein in this video recap of a debate between Gene and Ben on the Part of the Problem podcast. Should worker’s forego political organizing and use crowdsourcing to implement a hostile takeover of capitalism itself? Will socialism undo the freedoms we enjoy today? Are boycotts enough?

Steve Paxton both studied with GA Cohen at Oxford before and works blue-collar, white-collar and no-collar jobs.
His book, Unlearning Marx considers Marx without Marxism.
The theories of Karl Marx and the practical existence of the Soviet Union are inseparable in the public imagination, but for all the wrong reasons. This book provides detailed analyses of both Marx’s theory of history and the course of Russian and Soviet development and delivers a new and insightful approach to the relationship between the two.

This video picks apart the right-wing Day for Freedom video, examines how the alt-lite uses the Streisand Effect to spread its message, and points out that Karl Marx was a champion of free speech.
Addendum: At 3:21 Milo is talking about when he was 13 and was abused by older men. He is saying that he was the predator even though he was 13.

Virgil Texas and Matt Christman are two of the five co-hosts from the hugely popular leftist podcast Chapo Trap House and they stopped by the Zero Books podcast this week to discuss their new book The Chapo Guide to Revolution: A Manifesto Against Logic, Facts and Reason.
Like Chapo, Zero Books has a Patreon. Unlike Chapo we don’t have tens of thousands of patreon supporters. We do have over four hundred supporters, however, and we are producing a second podcast for this select group every week. We’ve also started a Zero Books book club and supporters on Patreon can participate in an online discussion group about a select Zero Books title every month. If you enjoy the podcast or just want to support the imprint you might consider supporting us on Patreon.

I want to remind you that we’ve moved the Inside Zero Books podcast from the Zero Books blog to Patreon. This will make it easier to get the member’s only podcast on podcatchers. It also means that we’ll be repeating the first year of Inside Zero Books daily on our Patreon account. If you missed Inside Zero Books podcast the first time, or if you just want to hear the old episodes again, they’ll be available.
If you haven’t already you might pick up Anselm Jappe’s The Writing on the Wall or Stuart Walton’s Neglected or Misunderstood: Introducing Theodor Adorno. Also, a perfect Christmas gift for the leftist in your life might be Kill All Normies by Angela Nagle.
